Interestingly just ran the serial number on this one. It appears to be the same watch which was at Bernardini in May 2016. At that time it was a Uni-compax and the ask was EUR12000. Now it appears with a Compur dial, the wrong subdial hands, but a correct second sweep hand and an ask of USD16500 Another mix and match UG
This one looks OKish value - I'm sure a loose dial will come up at some point. https://www.ebay.it/itm/Alte-UNIVER...299022?hash=item3b08a8030e:g:dy0AAOSwuWJax5QIPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
That may well be the key question in Universal chronograph collecting. We have seen that these are very freely franked - a browse through the latest Bernardini sale shows this. And I have seen people on this forum (sometimes the same people) vary from struct purists to tolerant in the extreme. The factory produced a wide number of variations and absent a photo in the archives reproduced in Sala, it is difficult to prove an authentic factory config.
I think somebody got a bargain. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-Geneve-Wristwatch-Hand-Winding-50er-Years-Gold-750-18k-in-excellent-condition-/372272109046?ul_noapp=true&autorefresh=true&nma=true&si=WYWYF7ExRam7OVXQEBx65yt30ec%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Spotted this Uni-Compax online today - thoughts, anyone? It is claimed that the dial is "expertly restored" - is that merchant-speak for a "redial"?
Anybody seen a Martel-signed movement before? It's likely to be a pretty horrific franken and it looks like somebody has deliberately excised Universal Geneve. Very odd. .https://www.ebay.com/itm/Martel-cal...554035?hash=item3b0916b6f3:g:e04AAOSwfXFaruzbPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
