ah i see, curious, it's sold on his website, does he do that normally when he puts pieces up for auction?
"Pre-Nina"? Ive never heard it referred to like this. Its just an early execution...the first had thin sub dial hands.
very late ones and the nina medico which is probably the rarest also had thin hands ... I am sure I had pics of medico (evil and not) with stick hands ...
Now it's gone from both his website and ebay auction ended early- guessing he found an offer he couldn't refuse
I note that the Heritage auctions Nina sold for $23,750 including buyer's premium. The eBay Nina is at that level already and we still have the last minute flurry of bids to come.
Out of interest, did anyone pick up the Big Eye at the Bukowskis auction in Sweden yesterday? It sold for 183,000 SEK including premium (around £16,500), which was actually slightly less than last time (apparently the buyer did not pay when it was sold previously).

haha...I guess you haven't followed this reference much...there was a period when these would appear and bidding wars would break out. Quite a few sold for double that last year. This is actually not a bad price, looks like they have settled this year into the mid 20's This is also an exceptional example with the original crystal. It looks all original and in very nice condition...hard to find like this example. FYI- its not so much about the v72 as the scarcity of the reference in general combined with the pure sexiness.
You know what they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally I find it a beauty regardless of who wore it. But IMO one of the main reasons for the valuation is supply and demand. Try to find another Nina for sale tomorrow...compare that to a Rolex Daytona, which has been selling for more for many years now. On any given day you can find dozens of Daytonas for sale with the exact same movement...yet you might search for months to find a single Nina. This is what establishes the price.
Having had the opportunity to spend time with some nice examples... they are NOT common. The quality and workmanship shines through. They are beyond my single purchase comfort zone which is stupid on my part and something I need to get past. In other words pull the trigger and then hold a massive sell off to recover the funds.
Hi all, What do you think about this one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-VINTA...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Thank you.
The vertical crosshair on that doesn't look lined up properly all the way through does it? Looking on my phone so could be me but seems off. Could be redial.
This seller was selling privately off eBay but that link is no longer active now. We had some correspondence and I attach some additional photographs he sent me. I can't make up my mind about the watch to be honest. The lume in the dots and the hands looks a bit fresh but could be original? I can't see Swiss on the dial but it may be tucked under the chapter ring or even if absent that does not necessarily mean that it's wrong. I'm not sure about the applied logo - should that U have a flat bottom? I couldn't see a problem with the crosshairs The hands are a less common variant but look ok. The watch is a bit grubby and it's not been overly polished so not it's not been prepared for sale.
I was told that in its day the Universal was number 2 to Omega and well ahead of Rolex in premium perception and we the watch of choice for many presidents etc ...anyone know anything about this
