Ok you lovely people, first time posting a thread like this so please forgive me if I go astray. I bring to you experts, the chosen ones two watches I have cast my eye upon.

The first advertised as a Seamaster 2846 with no date calibre 501 20 jewel, year 1950-59. All original condition, non luminous original hands, original crown and crystal(with logo). Original 1502 bracelet. Watch we are informed was serviced in 2022.

In my inexperienced opinion, reviewing similar watches I believe the dial is original, slight patina showing, writing appears correct as does the crosshairs. The crown not sure I struggle yet to understand how you know if the crown is correct for the watch but I think it is correct. Caseback looks genuine, now requested additional photos of the calibre and inside the caseback , reply received and I quote, "No photos of the movement as this would require watchmaking tools and would impact the seal of the case back" although they do mention two photos were published with the original listing? so may push further on this. Bid on Ebay so far is 1 bidder at say €582 3days to run yet so expect bidding to go higher. Seller not really active on Ebay, appears to bought a few vintage stuff and sold a previous non working watch.

Looks a tidy watch but is it real, worried about not seeing where the magic happens.

Expect bids to increase, think UK, European prices are alot higher than USA for example so if I do bid what would be the opinions on a fair price for the piece. Any assistance gratefully appreciated

The second watch, Constellation 168005, 1966(I think, two dates given other 1963) calibre 564, serviced. Again reviewing similar watches looks genuine slight patina on the dial, text appears to be correct as does the star, hands onyx , no lume on the dail. Did read generally no markers with onyx on the hour markers but that could be me confused. Date window appears faceted. More confident this time that the crown is correct, but let you be the judge. Does not appear to be over polished gold cap Price on Chrono(yes generally tend to be over priced, ) is €1150.

Grateful for the knowledge from the panel of enthusiasts and expertises please.

I really like the 2846. I'm not so crazy about the case of the Constellation.

I agree 100%. The Seamaster is quite nice with the non-luminous dial, beefy lugs, cross-hairs, BOR bracelet and Seahorse caseback. The Connie's lugs look a little soft to me, and spotting on that dial is more bothersome to me than on the Seamster (glossy dial vs. matte dial).

I agree with Dan. The Seamaster looks very nice, but the Constellation I think you could find better.

I also quite like the 2846. It's a watch I'd happily add to my collection. Crown looks original to me. For price references, you can look at this forum for similar references. One currently for sale with a patinated dial for CHF 490, one sold a year ago for €695, and another in 2021 for €590. Of course there's the bracelet which adds €200-250 to the value. Imho if you manage to get it at €800-900, you got yourself a nice watch.

Can't say I like the Constellation. Case is soft, crown is not the original (should be a decagonal crown), and for around that price I think you can do better.

Really like 2846, good one to add to your collection, on the other hand, not so much with that Constellation, wrong crown, soft-case, you could find a much better one, just be patient.

Happy hunting,

Thanks all for your opinions and advice.

My eyes are drawn towards the 2846, just pops in it's clean and crispness. I will keep a tabs on the auction and see how it goes.

On second google see what you mean on the crown on the 168.005

Constellation's caseback should have a gold medallion if I remember correctly. Likely a parts watch at best.

+1 on the 2846. It checks the boxes mentioned by others and just catches my eye better. Good luck.
