I got this email today:

Good afternoon. I hope your Monday is off to a great start.

I want to share with you that our HQ has requested a list of clients for the Speedmaster 2020 Olympic set that is exclusive to the Asia market. It seems that they will make exception for us based on individual requests, so I would like to give you a proper opportunity to reserve one.

The 5 pieces are sold individually and are limited to 2020 each. Like the Trilogy, there will also be a highly exclusive box set featuring all 5 timepieces which will be limited to 55 pieces only!

I have inserted a link to a watch blog article that show cases the entire set. Kindly get back to me as soon as possible with your interests so that I may submit them accordingly.

Thank you as always for being apart of our OMEGA family, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

That is from the NYC 5th ave Boutique. So I guess it is possible for Americans to buy these If you have a history of buying too many speedmasters. Not planning on getting any of them, I like the red one but have other things I’d rather buy.

Thanks for sharing - very interesting news, much appreciated. I was in the Omega boutique in Geneva late last week and enquired about the 2020 pieces and got the strict 'Japan market only' party line. Will be intersting to see how it all plays out!

So it appears that outside of Japan, it's rather like a limited edition Ferrari - you have to be invited to apply to buy one.

This is very exciting news! Now let us see if anyone on the forums in the States can get their hands on one through this boutique.

Who is the contact at nyc boutique? I lost my connection there when the manager moved to Lange. Would be interested to put in a request.

Just a heads up for those looking to buy in Japan. I visited the Ginza store at the weekend after I received confirmation they are not accepting orders via email or telephone. Their is a waiting list for the Panda and Blue versions and I was told it could take a month or two to receive the watch! I live in Japan so I went ahead and reserved one, but those of you hoping to pick one up on a short-term stay may well leave disappointed.

That is disappointing to read. I'll be visiting Tokyo during the month of October and I guess I'll try my luck at finding one of the blue dials for sale although now it doesn't sound too likely.

If anyone here gets his hands on a blue one, would he/she mind sharing the number? I wonder how soon the allocation of 2020 watches will be gone. Not because I want to sell my XX/2020, just curious to see how fast they sell them out.

Damn these only being available in Japan....I am really keen to get my hands on a blue faced speedy - have been hunting the Gemini IV but every time I look they seem to go up in price, so when this came along I got very excited, especially as I actually like the usefulness of the sapphire glass and the red accent on the chrono hand....but like many here, I don't live in Japan or plan going there any time soon....so...looks like another demand and supply horror story, with over RRPrices on the usual sites.....Damn you Omega!! I just want a blue faced Speedy....Not much to ask for eh??

I saw some for sale at watch shops around Shinjuku, but they had been marked up by about 100,000 yen!

I'll post my findings once there.

The best place to search in Tokyo is Nakano Broadway, which has accumulated over ten grey watch dealers in a single shopping mall. There are two pandas and two blue ones right now, each of them for around $7400.
Here is a website of one of the stores which has them:
https://www.kame-kichi.com/weblist....A5%ED%A1%CA%BC%EA%B4%AC%A4%AD%A1%CB&size=mens

I would say you would have a high chance in finding one there most of the time, if you are willing to pay a little more than the MSRP, but how "little" may change according to demand.

If you want to buy from ADs at MSRP, I would guess that they shall have the "green" and "yellow" ones in stock in the coming months. May be the "red" one as well. As for the "blue" one and the panda ("black"), I think its probable to some degree that they get entirely sold out through reservations. So you may need someone (a friend or a middle man) who is situated in Japan to place reservations before they sell out.

Two thumbs up for Nakano Broadway! Though you may have to fight your way through hyperwaves of Chinese tourists at the weekend. Be sure to take your passport and ask for tax free as you can save 8% of the total cost!
