My go to's,
More recent when I had to choose because of the unavailability of my previous favourites:

Just managed to get these again after about 20 years.

And a bottle of this on the way after 30 odd years. Purchased from a vintage outlet in Italy. Hope it is as good as I remember😗

“Nothing beats an astronaut. Ever.”

Axe Apollo is what the Mad Dog [can’t get no] action figure utilizes…

Grey Flannel was a favorite of my father’s- can’t bring myself to wear it.
I love the “Man’s Eau d’ toilette”..not “men’s”- this is apparently the EDT for all mankind!

I have 2 bottles of Saratorial, I loved it so much when I bought it I bought a second bottle. But after a few months I realized the dry-down just kind of drones, it’s nice but it can get a bit cloying.

Very entertaining thread - humorous and educational!
I haven’t worn aftershave since I was in college in the mid ‘70s. My roommate and I wore British Sterling (the girls loved it) and we also slapped on this green stuff called Skin Bracer. Pretty lowbrow compared to what’s being discussed here.

I also must commend JW for using the word “cloying” accurately in a sentence. Good one!

Got another round of sauce delivered today... going Old Skool here:

Grey Flannel ~ my signature sauce back in the 80's and early 90's, bought when I could afford it but usually under the tree from mom when I'd drive back home to Pennsylvania from New York City. As a young struggling jazz musician this usually made me feel like I had potential.

Eau de Toilette Grey Flannel ~ completely unfamiliar with this one but it was included in the purchase so why not? Turns out it was launched in 1997 yet somehow stayed off-radar to me... excited to try it especially with the reviews I've found.

Eau Sauvage EDP ~ another reco from @JwRosenthal based off his earlier reco for Eau Sauvage EDT... what I am smelling from the cap smells like pure victory to me.

Holy shit, you are buying full bottles to find your fragrance?

Samples are for the wishy-washy... full bottles are for closers.
I'm a closer.

*Still cheaper than a new watch... or so I keep telling myself.

Same except I am slowly cultivating a Scent Pipeline ~ all the No-Go's head to the East and James, or my wife takes 'em to work and leaves them out for surgeons & RNs to grab and take home.

So far only two fails- don’t think that a bad average.

With how personal scents are it's an outstanding record!

Your not going to want to do that if you don't like Amouage Opus XIII Silver Oud ...

Agreed. That one I did enter the land of the wishy-washy on and bought a sample... even then, that was one very pricey sample by comparison with other houses.

Nope, waiting for something special to warrant the cost... we hardly ever go out so I'll probably just put it on after a shower like I would any other scent.

Also, I think I am worried about trying it for fear of loving it and then having to either walk away from it or pony up.

Do you have a sample or full bottle?

I bought several samples from Amouage directly, as they were way cheaper than the other online guys. So far I have only tried Boundless. Trying to find the right time to try the Silver Oud, as from what I understand its kind of a love it or hate fragrance and I am not sure I could stand myself all day at the office if I hate it,
