Congrats on your Speedy! It's one of those few watches that works with whatever you're wearing that day, whether it's shorts & t-shirt, or a suit. It's just so versatile, it works on the bracelet, leather, canvas or NATO straps, too. I've read some comments in the watch community that say, "Oh, it's just a Speedmaster," but when you put things in perspective, we're very fortunate to be able to own one. I rarely see another Speedy, besides mine, in the wild.

Funny, I say that when I see a Submariner lol.

Versatile for sure...it works for church, the office, the skatepark, Dunkin’ Donuts, Hooters, “I-THINK-I’ll-WEAR-MY-SPEEDY-AS-A-BELT-DAY”...the list is ENDLESS! 👍

To me, that's too much showing off. That's just my opinion.

I'll add one of the key reasons I chose a Speedmaster is that it's very subdued. It doesn't stand out as much as a Seamaster for example.

Well, looks like I'm about to join the club soon. Found a NIB 2019 Speedy Pro with full AD stamped warranty for $3800 .So unless someone here tells me it's a terrible deal (I don't think it is), I should have it on my wrist by early next week. I nearly pulled the trigger on a LNIB 2018 model purchased in June for under $3000, but I like the idea of a full 5 year warranty.

Can’t agree more! Congratulations with the Speedmaster!

I also had some doubts before the purchase, but never had any regrets. Besides the great price/value, I can also see it as an investment (or at least they’ll myself so...).

PS: If you look closely, you could even see the Omega sign on the crystal!

I have to say I didn't expect it to care but now that I have it I do think it's cool that I can see the Omega imprint on the crystal if I look at it at just the right angle.

I love my Speedy! And while i have 5 Omega’s, the wrist sees the Speedmaster and SM300BT equally through the week!!

Congrats. The speedy is the way to go.

I purchased mine 6+ years ago. It was my first luxury watch. I had never heard of them prior to my initial purchase. I upgraded from an Invicta.

Now I have too many Speedmaster watches.

Most recent speedy purchase.

I'm officially a member of the club! I won't have it until Wednesday, but it's been purchased. I debated getting the sapphire sandwich version from the same seller for a bit more money (I really wanted to be able to see the movement), but the history buff in me decided to go with hesalite. I figure the money I saved going with this version can be spent on a strap or two.

Welcome! And grats to a great watch. About the sapphire back: you could always search for a 3572.50 or 3592.50 with hesalite in front and sapphire on the back =) I'm looking for one myself

I looked for that model, but I really wanted a brand new Speedy for my first one. I figure the Speedmaster will be just like my Seiko diver habit and will grown exponentially over the years. Plenty of time to add one with a display back.

I have lusted after one for 20 yrs or so and put it off and put it off due to the price. Thanks to a good business year I could finally fund one outright without starving the children and the cats. Several weeks of reading on OF provided me with all that I needed to know to figure out what I wanted, what I didn't want, where to get it and how much to pay. Another week or so of waiting for the right deal and then a perfect, for me, 2017 Speedy in like new condition with hesalite and full bracelet shows up at my door in the most ridiculous watch box ever. It is way better than I ever expected. My only regret is that I didn't buy one 20 yrs ago.

Thanks to each and every one of you who has taken the time over the years to answer what are certainly 1000's of questions from the obvious to the obscure that reside in this forum. It took me over a month but I found answers to every question I had. Search really is your friend.

Thanks again,
John
Congratulations. You will never regret it

Baz, this is a good arrangement, both a Speedmaster and a vintage Seamaster 300.

I'm conflicted. Of late I've been considering a no-date Sub. At present I'm still in the "studying phase" for the acquisition. Then I see a Seamaster like yours and find myself thinking: "Who needs a stinky ol' Rolex anyway?."

Interestingly I’ve had a real craving for the new Rolex GMT but know I couldn’t sacrifice either Speedy or Seamaster to get one! Ohhh the conflicts of watch collecting 👎
