I've been looking for a Tissot in recent months. Something 40s or 50s. This one popped up recently. Not working, missing the sweep, and corrosion/discolouration. The dial however is looks great with the outer track and Tissot script bright. I guess my questions are is this worth it? The price is decent but how possible is it to find the right parts?
Value depends in part on size, what’s the diameter? Without knowing what movement it has it’s difficult to say how hard parts will be to find.
if it's 37mm then hell yea find out if you can buy it on the cheap. If your patient like member maclovflop you will eventually find the parts you need.
For me, without being able to research it, standing in a flea market with 2 others peering over my shoulders interested in it, not able to open it, I would shoot from the hip like a cowboy up to $300.
Well could it be an impossible project? Given the price is $35 and I'm willing to be patient. Or is it too much of a risk?
The sloppy paint job is a dead giveaway To help train your eye, there are some nice vintage examples from that era in this thread: https://omegaforums.net/threads/do-you-like-tissot-many-pics.58233/
Ah great. Thanks for looking out definitely want to pick up a Tissot eventually. Love the typography.
