Tissot Powermatic 80 movement, polymer escape wheel and pallets. I have read that it is customary to replace these movements rather than to service them. Opinions? I was recently sent one of these, and I have simply returned it as not repairable. Same goes with Swatch system 51.

Is it not just an ETA 2824 with only the hairspring replaced with the silicon spring ( unadjustable) but otherwise standard movement. Maybe not able to be regulated easily but surely still up for a standard service?

As mentioned in my post, the Tissot Powermatic 80 has the polymer escape wheel and pallets. I have read that the service centres replace these movements rather than repairing them! The Swatch 51 likewise uses polymer escapement components. Since the service centres replace these movements rather than servicing them, does anyone outside the service centres have any experience servicing them?

Not all of them do.
