The Updated Bracelet For The Omega Speedmaster Professional 3861 — Here Is What’s New!

I visited my local OB and they told me they could not sell or order just the clasp, but rather the full bracelet.

That sure is greedy of Swatch. Is every Omega Boutique now forcing 3861 owners to buy a full new bracelet just to get the new adjustable clasp?

I just bought the clasp only 2 weeks ago. No issue at all.

Just ask them to order part number 117Z017553 which ThierryB gave above. I asked my local boutique to check that on their system and it’s the full set with clasp and links - it’s labelled ‘Kit’ on their system.

Successfully ordered mine today directly from Omega's US parts department (+1 800-766-6342) using that part number. I don't live near an OB, and my local AD isn't much help in ordering parts/accessories.

When I called, I was initially told it wasn't available. It took a minute to figure out that it's just backordered (as opposed to not available at all). The part is listed as "Comfort Conversion Kit," and it's US$264 (plus tax; free shipping). It's expected to ship in 4-6 weeks.

Last time I called, it wasn't in the system yet, so I'm happy it worked out today! Thanks to everyone for your help in figuring this all out.

I used the part number to source the updated clasp from my local OB. Very happy with the upgrade.

As a result, I have no use for my old clasp. Does this forum have a selling section?

I wish I had your luck. I called the US parts number (thanks!), and they said it was only available to dealers with Level 6 clearance and/or if you send your watch in for service. I then called the NYC OB, and they said the conversion kit would only be available if I purchased a replacement bracelet.

In both cases, I mentioned that I was aware of others that have had success in ordering just the part. They were unmoved. Why is it so difficult to give Omega a little more money?

Try calling the Swatch 877-839-5224 option 2 - you need to provide a part number when speaking with them.

Thanks, tried that number and another OB. The Swatch people said they would only sell to ADs and that the kit was not available and would not be available until mid or late June. The other OB also said they could only sell the whole bracelet.

I'll wait a month and try again. Very frustrating.

Try some other OBs. They'll ship anywhere.

That is frustrating. I didn't do anything special, other than maybe pushing for a bit more information when they initially told me it wasn't available. Hopefully, you'll have some better luck next time around.

Man, you guys sure are expending a lot of time, effort and money to get a longer, less compact clasp with all of a 2 mm adjustment. People are now convinced this is a must have. Is it really? I'm wearing an original 3861 bracelet right now and have been travelling for ten days going through airports in Chicgo, Zurich and Bordeaux, schlepping luggage, getting on and off trains and trams, walking around in cool weather and some muggy days as well. Never thought I needed any sort of adjustment. I think this is a mod people are convinced they need, but probably not in reality.

I don’t understand why you hate this clasp so much. Live and let live. Maybe some other people swell more than you and it’s useful? And the larger clasp is an acceptable trade off? You’re usually so rational. I don’t understand why you can’t stop railing against this thing.

If you don't need it, then don't get it. Nobody is forcing you. Personally, my wrist swells and shrinks considerably during the day. Sometimes the bracelet fits snuggly and comfortably stays in place. Other times it dangles and slides up and down my wrist. So having a quick and easy way to adjust the size a bit would be wonderful. I can't wait to get mine!

What his point is relating to is pursuing a bulkier clasp and sacrificing comfort all day every day for a lousy 2 mm of adjustment which may or may not necessarily come into play or even be used to good effect.
Seriously, 2 mm is virtually nothing of any consequence and I struggle to comprehend how Omega re-engineered the thing for 2 lousy mm👎
The design team must have been a bit quiet and the big guns must have said get up off your backsides and start earning your keep or we will start trimming the fat off your division or something like that. Or maybe it was a little project they threw in the direction of a newby to the team to test them out and see what they can come up with👎
The other thing is it just seems like yesterday that the watch was released and to come up with a modified clasp at this point in time with a mere extra 2 mm of quick adjustment is sort of a bit of a joke. Then for people to chase after it and pay fairly good money for 2 mm is somewhat perplexing.
Go ahead and knock yourself out for 2 mm by all means, but to my way of thinking 3 mm would be far more usefull or maybe even up to 4 mm if I had to have a bulkier clasp with only one alternate adjustment/setting.
Surely we can have a reasonable discussion around it without getting our noses out of joint.
He makes a valid argument from a certain perspective.

What do I know anyway?
I set my bracelets up slightly on the lose side so all scenarios are covered and I am currently wearing a watch with something like 20 mm of quick adjustment and I have never ever used it except to demonstrate how impressive it's design is only once in 12 years.
That's even travelling around the world with it and in different climates and seasons.

Frankly, I would probably prefer the original clasp on the 3861 and enjoy it's more compact nature whilst wearing it a touch on the lose side and be done with that configuration.
To each their own and when get around to picking up mine, I will be looking for a pre owned one in the original clasp configuration for a slightly added discount, so I'm basically all set👍
Cheers😉

OK, that's great for you, but some of us prefer to wear our watch more snugly and have a problem when our wrists swell during the day. As Aroxx says, why can't you just live and let live? It's weird how this clasp seems to really trigger some people...

Not trying to be argumentative here but I understand his point. He’s made it relentlessly. My point is just that every time somebody talks about this clasp our brother comes in and talks smack about it. I don’t understand why he can’t let it go and let people enjoy their 2mm 😀. I really don’t know but maybe 2mm is just the right amount to let out the bracelet for a swelling wrist? I don’t have any quick adjust claps but I am one of those who swell a lot between sedentary and cold to hot and bothered so I’m interested in the clasp.

The issue with this adjustment is for some of us the outer adjustment is our “normal” setting… makes the on the fly adjustment utterly useless. Adjustment ranges needs to be larger than a link for this to be effective for everyone.

Now that is a very good point. I have my original clasp on the outer adjustment which I don’t love the look of. I just tried adding a link back and moving the micro-adjust in thinking it would be the same length but it was not. Way too loose and I had to take the link back out and leave it.
