Well after the sale that may be ambitious. And with smaller French auction houses my hit rate with that is about 50% anyway.

Hoped you had pics.

Hello Gents,

Completely new to the Universal Geneve universe.

For starters I'd like to understand the difference between ref 22290 and 22414, is any reference more in demand? What are the differences between the two? Is there a big price gap?

That’s something not that hard to research yourself…

They will be auctioned by Henry's so we will know after the auction 😁

Hint: Assuming the movements are ok, the value on these is simply going to be the case and movement.

What that equates to is something you'd need to assess yourself😀

Henry's is selling - what may be called - the redial collection 🙄 https://www.henrys.de/index.php
That's exactly why I'm asking, if I google the 22290 I see prices ranging from 6-13k eur.
The guy that auctioned this at Henry's is looking to make a quick buck and is asking 4k EUR.
Aside this forum - what websites/forums should I look at to get more knowledge on UG?

None. All the knowledge is here. However: we don't really like to do the work for others.... So: do your own due diligence and keep in mind that these watches should be considered a collection of parts

ok, understood. With that being said I've seen some 22290 (also on this forum) with everything the same aside the colour as the one I showed here (saw white not black)
Considering the fact that everything in the dial is same (brand name shape, hands, numerals) i'm puzzled why would you think it's a redial.

The lower one you posted above 100% a redial. Furthermore: never focus on asking prices but on transaction/sales prices. One can ask the world

Both watches from Henry's are 100% redials (and rather poor ones for that matter)

Were the photos removed from this post?
Anyway - look at the printing on the dials and you'll see why its a redial.
Also this thread may be helpful to you: https://omegaforums.net/threads/learn-how-to-fish.52603/

Jumping into Universal without preparation is like jumping into an ocean of sharks with broken dive goggles and covered in chum. Even with research and studying you're free diving with maybe a rusty harpoon. The brand has variance and nuance probably more than any other vintage brand which adds to its allure and demand, but it's not easy to navigate.

I've had to remove the photos as the owner got pissed a bit 😉.
Photos can still be found on Henry's auctions.

Anyway, even though it's a redial I'd say it's a fair price for the watch, might just buy and start looking for dials themselves 😉

Thank you all for the help!

The owner got pissed that you went to the right place to find out that these ain’t worth a spit? I’d drop him from my consideration list as he’s a scumbag. . See @jumpingsecond advice. UG is a defunct, beloved and soon to be reborn brand. Most of the good stuff is in collections. What is out there on the market needs careful examination. Quality examples are not cheap. It took us literally a nano second to dismiss both watches you posted. You need to get there. Get yourself a digital Sala copy and use the search function here.
