Can someone clarify if The Timeless Channel openly solicits the watches in the videos? If so, and if several victims are affected, with proceeds financing more videos financing more sollicitation, then it’s scam that uses You Tube in order to perpetrate the scam, and it is a scam which You Tube should have an interest in prosecuting very visibly.

No I don’t believe that’s the case although I haven’t watched one of his videos for a few months.

Does someone know if The Timeless Channel openly solicits the watches in his videos?

Does he says, “send me your watches and I will review them”? If so, then it’s scam that uses You Tube in order to perpetrate the scam, and it is a scam which You Tube should have an interest in prosecuting very visibly.

Also people and brands should be made aware influencers have the power to misunse their infuence— this is now no longer one person’s story, it’s an international news story about abuses of the “gig” economy on social networks.
I have found on OF to my absolute delight that we support each other here. That includes hosting watches for service, transporting watches, lending for “test drives”, parts help etc. TRUST matters. Glad the community is now looking at this guy.

Actually maybe it’s a scam even if he doesn’t sollicit the watches on the videos themselves.
So long as the aura of respectability he creates on the basis of the You Tube channel serves him to obtain watches, then withhold them, that is a misappropriation of You Tube’s power.
I don’t really have an account on You Tube but someone who does should report this thread so that their legal department can take a look at the evidence…

Wow. Just wow. I feel for the OP and the various others that have effectively been scammed here. This is truly depressing 🤔

And to think that someone dobbed in Simon Freese on eBay recently (as discussed on his channel) for trying to sell a ‘fake’ (just a classic Omega he’d restored). Social media can be very troublesome for sure.

Pretty clear that negotiations and the soft approach isn’t going to work with someone like this. Very glad to see that this guy is now exposed and hope that the exposure will get some results for all the victims here.

Without the OP bringing this out in the open, I suspect this guy would have kept doing this to others.

I would also like to thank all on here that have supported this post, Usman for getting back to me and also posting his story about loosing his watches and Nico for having the bravery to post this video

@collector1946 - have you received the proof of life photo yet? Ask him to set the time to something random and photograph the watch on a piece of paper with "Ade" written on it.

Say that once you have that, you will instruct a lawyer or take appropriate action. The first thing is to see if he still has the watch in his possession.

Good luck, Chris

There are a few more common tropes on that IG that I remember from many former members.

- I’m too rich to need your money / watch
- Your money is a paltry amount anyway
- Your watch is so cheap / worthless, it’s nothing to me
- My only mistake is I’m too good of a person
- No good deed goes unpunished

They get used a lot.

After reading the emails and listening to Nico’s phone conversation, it sounds an awful lot to me like they are dealing with someone with serious narcissistic personality traits.

A narcissist’s reaction to being challenged and/or called out for being in the wrong is always to turn themselves into the victim while slandering and attacking those who would dare question their integrity or worth.

I’m not a psychiatrist, so obviously take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I grew up with a parent with a diagnosed narcissistic personality disorder and the behaviour I’m seeing from this individual is unquestionably familiar to me.

Here is the problem with the approach that has been taken so far… challenging a person with these personality traits… threatening their image… will only see them further secure their defensive position.

These types of people are generally not capable of conceding that they are in the wrong and so challenging them will only exacerbate an already bad situation.

The best path forward is to document what is happening like we are doing here (so that others are not similarly trapped) and have people in positions of real authority (police and the courts) respond to the matter.

There is little chance, at least in my experience, that an appeal to this person’s better nature will resolve things. People higher up in their perceived hierarchy (police / courts) are the only things they respond to.

Again, just my two cents derived from a lifetime of defending myself against a person with a similar disposition.

I truly hope that the OP, Nico and others are able to get their money/watches back.

In Person Exchange Offer

So, which of our members are in Italy to arrange a videotaped exchange of the watch (and materials) at an agreed public location?

Not to suggest it clear that this guy shows up, but instead to offer an alternative to his recently suggested lawyer-to-lawyer via mail exchange. Presumably the lawyer-to-lawyer mail exchange is intended to provide some semblance of verification of delivery. That can also be accomplished by an in-person exchange that both party’s can videotape or otherwise create comfort.

Of course, I might expect this guy to either refuse the in-person option or to not show up to some excuse, but perhaps he surprises.

My law firm, Sherman & Sterling, has offices in both Milan and Rome and I could arrange for our offices to be the neutral location of any exchange.

And before the negative nanny responses, remember for a moment that this guy is reading this thread.

Valuation Of Watch

Meanwhile, I reiterate that it might be helpful for OP to clarify in what country he resides, and if there is any viable estimate of the watch’s value.

Alternatively, if one of our members has any capacity to provide a valuation using the many complete photographs of the watch had by OP, which valuation that member may attest to in writing along with their qualifications.

The legal severity of crimes of theft are often tiered by monetary value of the item; and, the higher the degree of theft the more attention enforcement agencies tend to give. I presume the value of this watch exceeds tens of thousands of dollars.

Relatedly, I also assume this guy’s visa/residence permit in Italy may be revoked for either (1) a certain level of theft in Italy, or (2) a certain level of crime in another jurisdiction (the OP’s jurisdiction) communicated to the Italian authorities.

But regardless of the viability of any of these measures, the prerequisite to any viability is having som lebdocumentary valuation of the watch.

I should add, that @Syrte ’s focus on the YouTube terms of service etc is a far more viable route than relying on Italian enforcement agencies, and I presume someone in our universe is far more agile and influential in the YouTube universe

…that may be so, but I am still failing to understand why these people who are coming here to complain about TTWC / Oisin O’Malley have not yet initiated legal proceeding in Venice/Italy! 👎

The Italian legal system is so slow it would take a decade to get anywhere if the accused had a good lawyer and knew how to work the system.
