Incase its not yet dibsed : dibs 😀

Ha, I had an offer last month or two ago, I just could not make the deal. As much as I want get the funds to buy the gold bracelet for the skeleton, I could not let this one go.

I think this is a love it or hate it watch, but I will tell you all that once you try it on and wear it for the day, you will love it. One thing I really like about these is that since they are tool watches, most all are pretty beat up but they look really good in beat-up condition (or mint condition).

I am happy to see more resources available for collectors to learn about this model of watch. Below is a link to another good resource on these wonderful watches.

I didn't need a day...5 minutes was all it took 👍 I found it VERY comfortable on the wrist. When I was a stage-3 watch addict (I am now somewhere between 4 and 5) I was into BIG watches...so my wrist is not shy.

Terrific Academic work

Hmmmm……I could be entirely wrong, but I seem to recognise a rhythm, & style, in the text

Is this the work of a knowledgable, but combative, & somewhat dyspeptic Ex Member of this Forum ?

Excellent! Great to see the Ploprof getting more serious attention. Or rather, one of the Ploprofs, I should say 😉

So apparently in his new classification, mine is a Mark I with case 2, dial D3, bezel B1 and wide-lume hour hand. Given that it's a first-owner watch and I have the extract (produced in June 1972, sold to my dad two years later), I know that there was never a movement swap, so it's all original, correct, and in excellent condition (save for some dial erosion, which is apparently all but impossible not to have on the darker D3 dial). Also, I have the original Isofrane strap that came with the watch and the 1162 bracelet my dad purchased together with it. There's even box and papers to go along with it, as well as a personal story.

Reading the article, it appears this combination is somewhat rarer than I thought. Potentially more valuable, too, but that's only useful for insurance purposes because this is the one watch I'll never sell.

Thers is another site on the SM1000 from the same author.

http://www.omegaseamaster1000.com/

I’ve exchanged a couple of emails with the author as I own a couple of the “mistery of the missing watches” pictured there. As he mentions, dial could have been swapped at service as they might have had plenty of 600 dials at hand. More research needs to be done there.

The differences between the Mark 1, 2 and 3 are not entirely clear to me from the present info. Is it based on production date alone, is it some specific combo of dial, bezel, hands, or is it a different case?

Also:

Movement number ranges are in blocks are not contiguous.

Will these blocks be in the book? Super interested.

Also: a wristshot.

Totally. It’s also more gangster than a Tommy Gun. I am surprised those hip-hop-twerkin-gangsta-rapper-stars haven’t figured it out yet...perhaps because they didn’t make a Ploprof in gold...

This one is close Dead Link/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/122965653065

At the beginning of the site where they talk about history there appears to be the production sheets from Omega that looks like the order they were made also I think the gallery does the same but like you I would love to see dates and movement numbers and of course I imagine that the D1 Dial goes with the B1 bezel etc

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, and who admire this lovely watch, some of the Good Folk have been at it again, with more great content

Thanks to all involved for yet another great resource...

👍

Hi

Interesting, that Tsolo actually put up a site for the "poser" diver as he commented in previous threads.

Nice site, but his actions on this site still speak volumes on his reputation. I know past results are not a prediction of future returns.... but I am not a fan.

Your mileage may vary.

Good Hunting.

Sorry about this but I am a bit confused with this baby and bath water thing ..these guys who did this site have a bad reputation?

the site seems to upside down the Jon Wallis book and Fratello says they have got it right and seem to make a compelling case and they must have the museum behind them otherwise how did they get the production sheets

any advice for a new boy would be helpful

Hi

The site technically looks nice and proper....

I just had a issue with the way the author conducted himself here.

enjoy the site.

hi

yes the work is done by tsolot together with omega museum heritage team. so far i know the production batches will be published in the book which then will allow to say what would be the exact configuration.

but in general it should be D1 +B1 = MK1 as usual
