The Planet Ocean

There is an orange ceramic bezel on the platinum planet ocean. The problem is it’s supposedly very expensive to make orange ceramic at a level needed. It’s a piece that everyone forgets about... well the price might be a reason.

I love my PO's but I can't even imagine how insanely impractical (ok but fun) that watch would be. Not to mention heavy! I have the 45.5mm 8501 in the red gold and if memory serves me correctly I think it weighs in around 250g. That platinum one would be a couple pounds!

A shame about the lack of a regular production 8500 with ceramic though. Ever since that first post popped up I've been thinking about one non-stop!

I also vote for the 42 mm PO 2500. Here’s mine from 2010. The older, pre-ceramic bezels faded nicely. Works great on the original, albeit somewhat heavy, bracelet with its nice soft edges, as pictured above. Also looks and wears great on a NATO or a vintage Horween leather strap, as pictured here. Accurate as hell! Black or orange bezel, whichever you prefer, but the 2500 is the way to go.

I like the slightly “vintage” look of the older 2500 caliber but the bezel just gets scuffed up so easily. But beautiful piece nonetheless especially with the slimmer profile when compared to the newer ones.

Been on my list since its original release.
No it's on my wrist. Love it even more in person.
Such great wrist presence and fits nicely under shirts or jackets. Not too bulky ...even if its 45.5mm.
Keep in mind my wrists are 6.5"

Wearing my circa 2011 PO 42mm today.

I’ve never been a huge bracelet guy, might pick up a rubber strap in the near future. Mostly due to long arm hairs and being pulled out by the links lol.

I currently owned the 42mm 8500. As also said by the rest of the guys here, the 2500 would be a nice classic PO. That’s in my wishlist too.

The 8500 is growing on me for sure. Really dig the grey ceramic bezel.

Wait, does that mean the orange 8500 is aluminum, while the dark grey 8500 is ceramic? Is that really the case?

Yes that is the case! I’ve owned both. I gave the orange one to my son and traded the grey/black ceramic one for my titanium 42mm

The 2500's and 8500's are the ones for me (with a slight edge to the 8500 as you're factoring in the ceramic bezels, upgraded movements, exhibition caseback, and slightly better bracelets/straps). I also prefer the larger crowns and He release on the 8500. It just looks a bit more proportional to me.

The 2500 on bracelet was my first (good lord that's a great tool watch), followed by an 8500 Ti on bracelet, then the 8501 Ceragold, the Deep Black next and I recently added the stainless 8500 a few months back. I'm not sure I'd be able to part with any of them. They're all classics to me! (all in the 45.5mm case size).

It's the brand new PO's that I'm not really a big fan of with the exception of the Deep Black. The "hash-marks" on the bezel don't really do it for me and they seem to contrast too much on most models. To be fair I haven't played with many in person so I'm sure that opinion will change eventually.

For now I have to go with my 45.5mm Ceragold being my favourite!

I have a feeling you like Omegas.... BEAUTIFUL collection you have there

Calibre 2500c or 2500d
What is the significance of the 2? I'm looking for a good 2200.50
