The chrono Octo Finissimo is thinner by 1.34mm, and it’s an auto, and a GMT
No it’s not. The overall watch thickness is a record. The movement thickness is not.

Speak for yourself. [EDIT: Ignore me yourself!! 😵‍💫😗]

It’s a Gerald Genta designed watch, and watches in this case/bracelet combo have been either nominated or won categories at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in all but one of the past 7 years.

That’s not to say there aren’t critiques, and an ass for every seat, etc., but only to say that yours is just one of two strong opinions available.

I think a watch design from the same guy who designed the Patek Nautilus and the AP Royal Oak, from a horology house that has broken a world record in thinness every year since 2014, has the makings for a *possibly* good watch
I think the OF is a fine watch, not so much the Apollo 17😀

It’s both the thinnest chrono watch, and thinnest chrono movement.

Piguet 1180 movement is 3.95mm, and a manual.

The OF’s BVL 318 movement is 3.3mm thin, and an automatic.

It’s one of 7 world records for thinness in the past 7 years, for either watch, movement, or both as follows:

2014 – TOURBILLON (THINNEST TOURBILLON MOVEMENT AND THINNEST TOURBILLON WATCH)

2016 – MINUTE REPEATER (THINNEST MINUTE REPEATER WATCH)

2017 – AUTOMATIC (THINNEST AUTOMATIC WATCH)

2018 – TOURBILLON AUTOMATIC (THINNEST AUTOMATIC WATCH, THINNEST TOURBILLON WATCH)

2019 – CHRONOGRAPH GMT (THINNEST CHRONOGRAPH MOVEMENT AND THINNEST CHRONO WATCH)

2020 – TOURBILLON CHRONOGRAPH SKELETON AUTOMATIC (THINNEST TOURBILLON CHRONOGRAPH WATCH - ADDED TO ITS THINNEST CHRONOGRAPH MOVEMENT)

2021 – PERPETUAL CALENDAR (THINNEST QP WATCH AND MOVEMENT)

They maintain all these records. (Piaget momentarily retook the 2017 record for thinnest automatic, until Bvulgari retook the title 3 months later with the thinnest automatic and adding the tourbillon in 2018.)

And I’m with you there! Embarrassing miss-read that I’m going to blame on my toddlers somehow. 😁

Yep ok that’s pretty thin. And an auto too. It’s confusing since I was seeing figures of 4.6mm elsewhere but maybe that was for the Piaget one.

When I created this thread 2 weeks ago, there is no way I could have known that Omega would do what they did 1.5 weeks after … which only enhances the spirit in which it was created ::psy::
Haha. Agree. I really hope they don't reissue the 1957 in Steel this year (I don't think they will since it just came out five years ago) but I suspect we may get a new steel something in addition to the Canopus 2915.

In the interim, continuing to enjoy my speedy 60th a lot.

Yeah, but can you actually buy that Daytona for that price?
Not without begging your AD or buying a bunch of other stuff. I get the feeling that if you walked into an Omega boutique and plunked down the cash for the Canopus 321, they'd take your money in a heart beat. You'd also be elevated to VIP status with Omega.

No, because the more precisely I know the location of such a Rolex, the less precisely I can know it’s price and vice-versa. However, if a Rolex seller can multiply these two uncertainties they will surely get half a Planck.

I think it's time to see a new First Omega In Space, 3rd October of 2022 for the 60years...
Maybe with Cal 321 inside? With a display case back?

For the love of god, Omega, whatever you do, please never put diamonds on the dial or bezel.
