The names Bond, Ms Bond.

Just political correctness run amok. After Craig does his last appearance next year, I'm out. The new 007: Female, check, black, check, gay, TBD. No thank you, not interested.
I don't think it's politically correct. Ms. Lynch isn't officially confirmed as the next 007. However, I find the prospect of this move to be pretty non-inclusive and very, very offensive. The next 007 should at the very least be a single pregnant undocumented transgender mother. If not, I'm going to spit out my soy latte on the theater manager and go below the speed limit in my Prius back to my college professor's office to complain about the injustices of the world

SCREW THE PATRIARCHY! And why is the Moonwatch a *GENTS'* watch? WOW

She is not Bond. In the story Bond retires and his number is reassigned. She is not the first female nor the first female Black agent, nor the first time a number has been re-issued in the movies.

I fail to see how this offends anyone.

After this they are taking time off and a new Bond will be cast. It’s fairly obvious that after the reaction to this, and the reaction to Idris Elba being considered a few years ago as the next Bond, that James Bond will stay a white male.

Elba would be a great Bond I think.

Daniel Craig is in the film, he is the main character and star of the film. If you read my previous post in this thread I said exactly what happens. She is the new code name 007. Her character name is Nomi. Bond is officially retired and no longer employed by MI6 in this film and therefore cannot be code named 007. He is, of course, still James Bond.
Indeed. An idea that has merit. Bond after all must be about 90 odd so perhaps has earned retirement!

I think they should remake black panther and call it Mexican pantera. Or white panther. ::stirthepot::

It’s not an idea...

Isn't the production primarily controlled in the UK by the Fleming estate?
Actually I believe it is controlled by the family of Albert "Cubby" R. Broccoli, which is American and produced by EON Productions, a British production company started by Broccoli and Harry Saltzman.

Regardless of its accuracy, it was someone’s idea!

Maybe Bond25 is a trial balloon. I heard there will be a new (male) James Bond in 26, but I would think that would take another reboot to get someone younger in the role, unless it is Elba who is 46 and could just continue the Craig Bond.

As fine and capable an actor as is Idris Elba, at age 46 there's little chance of him getting the role. His name has been floated for years and had Craig not gone to bat one last time (or hung around for one more huge payday depending on who you ask) we might have seen Elba as Bond. As it is, with a 5 year gestation period to produce a Bond film, that puts Elba at age 52 at the wrap of his first film and unlikely to star in additional Bond films. The Broccoli estate likely has little interest in putting resources in a 'one-off' Bond. George Lazenby can attest to that.

I agree. There's no way a guy already in his late 40's is going to be cast as a brand new Bond. The producers will want someone in the mid 30's to make 3-5 movies over a 10-15 year period.

I was not saying he was still in the running, just a fairly strong reaction from some people about him I failed to grok.

Tom Hardy is being floated as a name...

Oh I think it's a fine testimony to the caliber of Elba's work that he's almost unanimously considered to be the natural choice to be the next Bond. I'd like to think there's something hopeful about that and that age, a factor we all must face at some point, was the only limiting factor preventing it.

I’d say his age was not what caused many people a few years ago to have in the words of Bart Simpson “Have a cow.” It was unfortunately not remotely unanimous and it had nothing to do with the Dark Tower.

Love the Simpsons!

“ Don’t have a cow man”

That’s old school Simpson’s! I think they made T shirts with that quote.

So what is everyone “ having a cow” about ?

I don’t keep up with 007 films or the actors.

Idris Elba is the new bond character ? He was in Finding Dory as a sea lion. Those guys cracked me up. I thought he was just a voice actor.

So as Ned would say:

“Hi-dilly-ho, neighborinos!”

Umm Daniel Craig is already confirmed for this film and has been seen filming for months, most recently in the Highlands of Scotland. The lady above is no doubt some form of assistant/lover/enemy/eye candy. Is this a surprise?

James Bond is now retired, apparently she is a 00 and M says "come in 007" and she enters the room as 007, but James come out of retirement and kicks ass once again.

Think again, I can't watch him at all, even to the point of switching the channel over when the Sky Q ad comes on, he's really that bad.

Bond who.

When’s the next Bourne film out. That’s what I want to know.
