It is a stylized concept of a sleek jetliner simplified to convey the intended message artistically without complicating machining process. Important aeronautical details such as engines were dropped while aeronautically insignificant cues like tail antenna were added to enhance the stylized concept. To my eyes the fuselage shape and wings arrangement along the fuselage are closer to the DC-8, which I always thought looked sleeker than than the B-707. The tail treatment looks like it was inspired by the B-707.

Will Omega replace a dial with a non Tritium dial if a flightmaster is sent in for a full overhaul/restoration? Or can it be noted to leave the dial and the hands original?!

A dial is a pretty expensive part (looking at the STS quote for the restoration they’ll be undertaking for me) - I can’t see why omega would change a dial unless you asked them to?

If in doubt though, you can specify that you do not want certain things done - no case work, no replacement cosmetic parts, etc.

Where in the world are you based? There might be better options than Omega.

I'm between Croatia and Germany. I'm just weighing my options regarding this watch, its the 145.026 that had a rough rough rough life, i was thinking about making a thread about the watch and its journey. Lets just say that the glass is held in by hot glue...

Could you PM me some of the part prices if you can. Thanks

Would be great to see a thread if you're happy to share!

The dial works out to about £250 including VAT... so not crazy, but also not a part you'd expect to be changed without them asking you first.

That's not too bad, I'd hunt down an original if possible rather than a factory replacement of the new variety (like half the Chrono24 ones have).

This is a keep forever watch so I don't have any hidden math or calculations to go with it, I just want it to be the best possible and keep as much original parts as possible.
I'll update this post when I make the thread.

Hey guys. Thought you might like to see a restoration we just did on an older Flightmaster we did last month. Dial and hands are untouched. Enjoy! 00100lrPORTRAIT_00100_BURST20200331143305702_COVER.jpg 00100lrPORTRAIT_00100_BURST20200331143314712_COVER.jpg 00100lrPORTRAIT_00100_BURST20200331143325508_COVER.jpg 00100lrPORTRAIT_00100_BURST20200331143355021_COVER.jpg IMG_20200317_180616.jpg IMG_20200317_180625.jpg IMG_20200317_180629.jpg

The issue with refinishing the case of the Flightmaster is the wavey line from the crown slope to the straight vertical edge where the crowns are located. When looking for Flightmaster, this is where I check when the case looks good. Will these wonderful FM’s be following the same path as vintage Rolex sport pieces? Touch the case and you have a watch that is seriously devalued! I think the Flightmaster will soon have it’s day.....

That is only the case if you have a very inexperienced person behind the lapping machine. I have seen that alot and I have fixed many throughout the years.

I’ll bet you have. Do you have a watch repair facility? I’m in need of a good, passionate watchmaker.

Any guide on how to re-tighten a stretched original bracelet? I'm kind of up for a DIY until the ordered parts start coming in for mine.

I have one of these as an intended placeholder until a Breitling Cosmonaute, and I've grown to adore it.
