No one else is going to say it, but this is just mean.

A watch like this is not supposed to exist. I'd accuse you of owning a time machine and using it to bring back a brand new watch, except the brown shows the age.

    St-st-st-stunning!

I'd say dibs but I only have two kidneys. Plus, who says dibs on the crown jewels?

    Just wow.

    Interesting calendar spotting this morning.

@SpeedyPhill posted a picture in the Hidden gems from the Russian Space photo archives that caught my eye. On the Speedmaster bracelet worn by Soyuz 5 Commander Vladimir Dzhanibekov there clearly appears to be a small wrist calendar folded over the bracelet.

Not only did the Speedmaster make it behind the Iron Curtain but the calendars did too.

Answering a question in another topic, here're a few screenshots of Apollo 16 era NASA photos showing John Young's leather riveted strap.

It's been awhile since a really nice set of Timely calendars has shown up on eBay.

For anyone still playing the calendar hunt game here you go.

EDIT - The seller changed the title to 1976 but 1969 still in the description. I didn't look close enough at the pictures so they are in fact 1976 calendars.

Here is a mint complete set of 1976 calendars for auction. For me, this set is the ideal set of calendars because the calendar plates are clean with no advertising that is sometimes seen along the bottom.

Sorry for high-jacking your thread, but I just recognized that photo. I have the original that came from the Armstrong estate auction. After the stopover in Yugoslavia, the country sent copies of the photos to each astronaut, and Armstrong saved his.

A couple of things about this trip. Michael Collins mentioned an anecdote from the Yugoslavia trip in his obituary he wrote after Neil Armstrong's death. He related a story that showcased Armstrong's intelligence and personality. I've included a snapshot of the text below, highlighted in yellow.

I love this picture of Aldrin. Like you said, he was the pinnacle of coolness.

To make up for that distraction, here is something related to these wrist calendars.

Dr. Douglas was the first flight surgeon of the Mercury 7. In some of his old records, he mentioned his discovery of the wrist calendar and how useful it was for him. It was dated March, 1966, which would mean the calendars were around the astronauts that early.

There is also a document that shows how much he paid for them.

@pdxleaf Thank you for sharing the fantastic documents regarding the interest and use of the wrist calendars by Dr. Douglas.

It is interesting to read the first calendar he received was March 1966. That would be the earliest one I've been able to document. Until you shared this, the earliest set I've been able to obtain for my collection is a full set beginning in October 1966 to September 1967.

Very impressive search for details I was not aware off so far. But I remember having these aluminum calendars myself on my watch in the 1970ies.... just forgot about it.
