This is MY final elusive piece. Now in the post. 😁

Got those Timely Tingles the other day when I woke up and saw THAT thumbnail in my eBay saved searches.
I've been painfully jealous of @TLIGuy 's Big Box set for literally years.
Most I've ever paid for a set, eBay's global postage his horrible, but Big Box and hopefully July 1969 🚀⌚🌖 is in there.
and yes, @TLIGuy , I have been "overly" hopeful in my search for earlier years despite your extremely well documented and shared research. 🙏👍👊

@Emeister that is most excellent!!! I saw the set pop up yesterday as well and was going to pull the trigger on them but I could not tell if it was a full set. I actually just looked at Ebay around 15 minutes ago and saw they were sold. I'm glad you picked them up.

Well done and thanks for bumping this post. It's still my all time favorite addition here at the OF.

And for anyone new to this game.
I posted these in the Racoon Rummagers thread.

I think they are both still available and worth a low offer, especially if you are in the US of A.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love; that, and more Timely wrist calendar addicts.
And Omega Forums needs more of those addicts proudly displaying their prized calendars in the WRUW thread, rather than hiding them away like this (me) rather sad addict.

1970 set.
If Apollo 13 isn't Omega Speedmaster iconic enough for you then maybe you graduated kindergarten, got married or saw Led Zeppelin for the first time.
If you're an OmegaForums Baby then just imagine what that adventurous Great Uncle of yours, with the fabulous lamb chop sideburns, was up to as the world was emerging from black and white into glorious technicolour.

This set doesn't have any marketing advertising on the calendars themselves, just the classic egg-timer logo. Cool as! 😎👊

That is a great set I saw pop up a few days ago too. Nice, clean, and unbranded.

Grab it for next year, then put it away until 2037.

😉

Mr Jimmy J once again proving that he is the brains of the outfit 😎👊

Buy for yourself for next year then the re-useability of 2037 being backed up by 2043 should make this the great collecting investment that all newcomers are searching for!
Fully endorsed by TLIGuy too!!! Could you possibly hope for a surer bet? 🤠

Well, despite SwatchGroup new "marketing approach" towards spaceflight anniversaries, both Apollo-Soyuz and Apollo 13 are epic enough...
For those not so familiar with these lightweight foldable "Timely" calendar beauties, each piece in a set has two sides, a "Silver" colored side and a "Gold" colored side...
Perhaps a bit difficult to spot but in this photo JANUARY to JUNE show the "Silver" colored side, JULY to DECEMBER show the "Gold" colored side.

Life is complete now... 😀

The search is finally over for the final piece to my 1968 Speedmaster/JB Champion set-up. icon_good.gif

The missing piece you ask, or most likely not, the elusive H Shaped calendar as worn in conjunction by some astronauts with the JB Champion bracelets. I had asked a few of the astronauts if they recalled the brand or manufacture of the calendars they used but none of them could remember. I thought after all they had going on this would be the last bit of information they would retain, and I was correct, at the time. Then a few months ago I woke up to an email from one of them with the word Timely in the subject line. His email said that he was working around the house and it just popped into his head. While I was thrilled to have the information I was more impressed that after years of memories flying jets, training, orbiting and walking on the surface of the moon I had inserted myself into the deepest reaches of an Apollo astronauts brain up.gif

Finally, the quest began. After months of searching and checking multiple sources I checked ebay everyday, if not every few hours, under multiple words and combinations only finding H shaped calendars by Profile from the 80's, to current production ones, to the newer oval calendars. Then last week, to my surprise, the elusive Timely calendar appeared. While ideally I was looking for calendars from '68-'70 I purchased them immediately and victory was declared.

Are you all thinking I'm bat $h!t crazy yet think.gif You bet, but we all have our obsessions and this was mine.

Yes you are crazy but it’s par for the course here, so it’s good crazy. The story makes it.

Here is a great new find from @pdxleaf that he brought to my attention in Wally Schirra's book "Wild Cats to Tomcats The Tailhook Navy"

I'm not sure if these little calendars were helpful or if their use grated on each other's nerves during Apollo 7.😀🤔

All three crew members were all in on the calendars and have commented on the use of the calendars in their memoirs.

"Wild Cats to Tomcats The Tailhook Navy" - Wally Schirra

"Apollo Pilot The Memoir of Astronaut Donn Eisele" - Francis French

"The All American Boys" - Walter Cunningham

Thank you @pdxleaf

Most excellet collection you have there @SOG53
Thank you- I (thank/blame) this thread I quite enjoyed your original post. When I took this picture I realized I am missing 1974 and 1970 calendars, and a quick look on EB unearthed a nice 1974 set which are on their way to me as we speak!
