Must admit, my first reaction to this thread was confusion....Speedy vs Seamaster? It was the 'vs' part. They are so different; just get the one that best fits your taste and lifestyle, duh! Then I scrolled through the comments, pictures, and testimonials. Then I abashedly realized I have both*.

*Speedy auto, cuz I like autos

To become a legend, a speedy. But 145022-69 ST with hesalite back.
But it is not waterproof. Is it really important?
If yes, then Seamaster ceramic, it is so nice!

Here is the real thing, but the white Broad Arrow is my favorite.

One question I have in the Speedy vs Seamaster debate is whether the domed glass on the Speedy is more prone to damage? I currently have a 22-year old Tag 2000 and the bezel sits proud of the flat glass so protects it against knocks. Looks-wise I love the Speedy but the water resistance - swimming, sailing showering etc - and that domed glass worry me a bit.

Technically you could say yes, but since neither one has the bezel over the glass both of them can get hit. The bezel on a po or smp does not protect the glass.

I'm still saying Seamaster, just a great variation to select, at least for me. Aside, all the Speedmastets look the same 😀

The post above is from almost three years ago.

You can see that I sold more Seamasters compared to Speedmasters.

Since this time I have purchased 6 more Speedmasters (Ed White, Straight Writing, Mark 3, -71, Gold Skeleton, and a CK2998). So no longer saying Seamaster, I am Speedmaster all the way 😀. And by the way, I would have never sold the Speediorite if it has a hesalite crystal.
