I just read this article on Forbes and found it fantastic - was definitely something and someone I was completely unaware of - Dr. John Houbolt - who championed the idea of using Lunar Orbit Rendezvous.

Thanks for that link. Houbolt was really key in making the moon landing feasible in the 60s.

There is an internal NASA document about Dr. Houbolt's saga titled, "Enchanted Rendezvous". It's long, technical, and a great read. It used to be on the NASA document site but it's not there any more. I'll find it and post it. (It took me a few hours to read.)
