Not sure if it’s been discussed here before but I saw this old article from 2019 posted on Reddit today and figured some of you would be interested: Half of Britons would refuse free trip to the Moon, fearing ‘there’s not enough to see’ or that it ‘would take too long’ Got a chuckle from some of the Reddit comments: “Mate, l live in Stockport currently; if I want to see a barren grey wasteland, utterly devoid of intelligent life, I can just go outside.”
Take off to landing, Apollo 11 took about 10 days, but the crew was sequestered for about another 10 days after landing. Call it three weeks. All this for an excursion that took about one day on the moon? Count me out!
I am holding out for a trip to the sun. Will land at night. It may be too hot to land during day time.
No way! COVID test before you go, then you'll be locked down for 2 weeks when you arrive then on return COVID test again and locked down for another 2 weeks. Just sucks count me out.
Any trip to a new, faraway place is fun for a maximum of six weeks. After that, all you want to do is return home. So the Moon is in, Mars is out.
This blows my mind. A trip to the moon, guaranteed return. Who in the actual f**k would say no? Give me a break, it's time to stop being the "I disagree with everything just to be different" douchebag and just say "yes". Wear a Moon Watch to the moon? Need I say more...
Three wealthy individuals paid $55,000,000 each for a trip to the International Space Station. I wouldn’t go if someone offered to pay ME $110,000,000 to go to the moon. The more firma, the less terra!
We need to be more forward thinking, the moon is so last century, what about a trip to Mars! Get to wear a Marswatch, drive a Mars Rover but watch out the diet might be potato's and I believe those nematodes can be hell.
Going to the moon, would be a great experience!Very dangerous though but if it succeded,it would be amazing and you would call yourself an astronaut!!
This is like, one thing that I hope I can do in my lifetime. Not necessarily go all the way to the moon, but at least to space for a couple of hours, or something like that. Yes this is happening now, but totally unattainable for most. I feel like it could be an actual possibility....C'mon Elon...make it happen!!!!
Going to the Moon was symbolic for reaching for higher standards/ideals. According to Jim Marss' 'who parked the Moon', it's older than our solar system. Intelligent life existing on this planet whilst the Moon can make a perfect eclipse with the sun, odds being greater than the amount of grains of sand on this planet this occurred, I think it's a special place.
Only if American Airlines promises not to get involved in commercial space travel. I just concluded a trip from the eastern US to the west coast. In the span of 5 days, AA cancelled two of my flights on short notice, substantially delayed a third flight, and lost one of my bags. Thanks to their incompetence, I lost a day of vacation and had to expend my own funds for a hotel, food and airport transportation in addition to having to burn an extra day of leave from work. Trying to get an AA rep on the phone or via chat is an hours long ordeal that ultimately gets you nowhere. Atrocious customer service.
