O Ontime
Thrift store- $4.
Crazy. And here I was today at an estate sale having the guy tell me he could get $35 for a hideous junker Benrus.

I know. This particular thrift find of mine was maybe 5 years ago. Sad to say but those days are mostly bygone. Of course it still happens but much much more rarely. I used to enjoy finding watches like the Benrus you mentioned 鈥hen they were $5 or less

O Ontime
Lol. I do not have the receipt. Wish I did. Actually I paid $8. for the bag of watches this came in. The other $4. was for the Seamaster Deville that was also in the same bag. 馃憤 Crazy

It's incredible that some thrift stores nowadays still don't access the internet for pricing

I've read that it's actually intentional, people who work there do it out of rebellion as they loathe the greedy managers

Looks legit to me from what I can see from a slightly blurry pic, case and dial all look good, bricks bracelet and fluted bezel. I assume it is in working order and you have seen movement photos? If so the price is in my opinion good value, I like it. I'm sure the other resident experts will chime in if I'm incorrect in my assessment. .

Shouldn't there be lume plots on the dial since there is lume on the hands?

Hi guys, been offered one for 拢725 GBP good price?

Avoid as the dial is at best a bad service dial, hands aren鈥檛 vintage either

The shape of the Omega symbol is what should have started alarm bells ringing.
Then you can look at the quality of the lettering.

Here鈥檚 a pic from early on in this thread:

Can someone explain how this spring mechanism works? My rudimentary understanding is that there is quite a lot of adjustability here and thus can accommodate a decent array of wrist sizes.

It can slide out 2cm - there are springs on both sides

I don鈥檛 know the exact purpose though but I鈥檇 guess comfort and maybe removing it without unclasping

I wanted to say thanks for this thread, because it was an immense help to me in getting my very first Omega - a C-case Constellation 168.017 from 1971, with the 564 movement. I got myself the original 1040 bracelet with 518 endlinks, luckily in just the right size - plus what I believe is the correct box.

The watch has been recently serviced and returned to me last week, but only now have I gotten around to putting it on the wrist and taking some halfway decent pictures. It's running at +2 s/d, with an amplitude of 262掳 - which I find impressive, as no parts were replaced during service. I hope I will enjoy this one for a long time 馃榾

Here's some pictures:

And here comes her sister...

perfectly serviced in 2021 by Theo / Rostfrei from the German uhrforum for over 600 euros - some parts had to be replaced. Now it is running in chronometer standard again.

Factory number 27... roughly from the year I was born '69.

I admit, I just want to show it off 馃榾
