I figured I’d post this here as its an interesting example of a clean 751 grey dial C-Case in original condition with the purple snot on the caseback which you don’t see too often these days. The price is entirely unreasonable but hopefully it will be one of those that gets re-listed for a couple hundred less every 10 days until they give up and let it run no reserve.

Very painful to see the riveted 515 endlinks used on non-riveted bracelets, and in this case even with a completely wrong 1040 bracelet - it was very hard for me to acquire them

I think this aspect makes it a potentially mashed up watch, the NOS casebacks also show up from time to time on eBay

I've had this C-Case for a while now and have been meaning to ask you guys about it, I bought this based on the photos but upon closely inspecting it I started having some doubts about it but I am not entirely sure so here I am asking about this watch.

Case looks sharp on the edges and unpolished and I think the dial is original, the font looks great and all, but then again the middle "O" in the Chronometer has a tiny blotch under it, and I'm not sure if this is not a big deal. Next is the Second and Minute hand, I noticed that it is bent on the same spot I know some hands are bent on the edges to accomodate the domed acrylic crystal, but I have not seen a C-Case with a bend at that spot let alone a minute hand bent.

What are your thoughts about this? Thanks!!

Dial is 99.9% original, not sure about the bends, but I'd say it's normal (maybe not original, but extremely common), I'd worry more if the crystal isn't original, it's more cause for a watchmaker to bend the hands

Thanks!! Crystal looks original to me with the omega logo in the middle although I know there are after market crystals with omega logo as well.

All looks genuine to me. There both the minute and second hands on mine have a bend down to the edge of the dial. This is normal on most older constellations with the indices on the edge of the dial. There does appear to be a pronounced link in your hands but that may be down to an overenthusiastic watch maker in the past😵‍💫
Mine for comparison, hope they are clear enough.

Thanks!! your bent seconds hand looks smoother, like curved bend type, unlike mine which is like it was folded like a paper and then unfolded back and then you can't get rid of the line anymore lol

It's still a nice watch though, that grey sunburst dial is lovely.👍

Thanks! the gray dial is what really got me to pull the trigger before, I just hope I can get over the hands issue soon enough, i'll just convince myself everyday that this is a normal / standard hand haha

Agree with @kaplan about the watch. The box is wrong too. Period and style is correct for a C-shape, but it should have text "Constellation" on it.

Hi all, I'm trying to find some pictures that show vintage c-case type watches from different brands next to each other. I'm curious about apparent size differences between them when the measured case sizes vary by 2 or 3mm, e.g. between a 35mm Omega 168.017, a 34mm Girard Perregaux HF, a 36mm IWC Yacht Club, etc..

I'm guessing that there might be something like this in the curated-3-watch thread, but it's not easy to find!

The "three-watches" thread is constrained to mini-selections from within single brands. But if you want to start a new thematic thread on this issue, I think you could get quite a few offerings! 👍

And don’t forget that some c-case Omega Constellations (198.741) have a 37mm diameter.

I thought someone somewhere said that the initial intent of the three-watch thread had sometimes been hijacked to show three watches of similar styles from different brands.. But if this isn't the case, or if it is but it's frowned upon, I'll start a thread with exactly that purpose!

Et voila... They wear fairly similarly despite the subtle differences, often with more wrist presence when on the metal bracelets. I wouldn't sweat the size difference.

Wow, great series! I have the same GP HF too, really nice timekeeper and the 36000bph action both looks and sounds good. 👍

I've just bought this - sorry, poor quality photos until I actually get it!

I think this GP HF case is an earlier model, it's the 42.1 movement. Perhaps about 1mm smaller..
