I was in a store recently, as usual, with a watch on each wrist. The clerk asked me why I wore a watch on each wrist. I feigned bewilderment, and told her that I thought everybody wore two watches! Actually, I had a watch in my pocket, as well.😀

Beccause the watch on my left wrist tells the time. The watch on my other wrist tells the right time

Since @Mad Dog wears a Speedy around his waist at times, I don't wanna know what time that tells. God knows what he'll dunk with those donuts 😜

Well I have already talked about red & yellow "'Time Balls'" in harbors, now about Time checks onboard ships ...

1924-2024... almost a century of Time beeps!
In 1924 the BBC introduced the Time pips, beeps sounding like hourly time checks, a signal technically called the GTS - Greenwich Time Signal.
Post World War II, in the USA, ROLEX had the idea to sponsor these hourly time checks as " ROLEX time " each hour of the day.
In March 1964, the offshore unlicensed " Radio Caroline " started broadcasting from a converted three-master cargo ship in the North Sea. They also transmitted hourly Time checks but sponsored by Bulova, so Radio Caroline time became " Bulova time ".
Meanwhile the " Hollanders " also had their offshore pirate radio called " Radio Veronica " which soon became the most popular radio station in the Netherlands. Broadcasts were targeted to the Netherlands only, transmitting power was deliberately kept moderate to avoid interference with international radio stations. No idea if they used time checks.... maybe our Dutch members can chime in ?
These 1960s radio broadcasting vessels were the inspiration for the 2009 movie "The Boat that Rocked" !
Time ... aka the fourth dimension but it remains "a Riddle wrapped in a Mystery Inside an Enigma"
.

Here we go...
I don't wear watches. I have a phone and I see no need for a watch.
It takes great pictures too.

You could probably ditch this too, then. 😁

How about "Tonight? I dunno - I might open a beer and hang out by the Fire Pit listening to the Grey Nato with some of my redbar friends."

You buying one?
Not now, maybe some day. Definitely put it in my head.

I went there to drop off a watch for service. I have a vintage triple calendar that is missing a pusher cap that is very small at 3mm. They're going to make one and service the watch.

BTW, they will hold an all day open house where they run through making a watch. They said to sign up on their newsletter to get notified when it'll be held. I'd like to attend if schedule permits. Very intriguing group of people.

Cool, you travel all the way to PA from PDX to drop off the watch or just happen to be in the area?

Going to a Porsche show in Carlisle. Unfortunately, it's supposed to rain. Plus PDX was 82 today. 😡

Came with my bro who lives in Seattle. Our parents are buried at Indiantown Gap cemetery so we'll visit there and then we're going to see our 80 year old Uncle who is fighting cancer.

I hate sending watches in the mail as it always makes me nervous, plus it was a good opportunity to visit RGM. First learned about them at the NWAC museum, where they had an RGM watch that was donated. An American independent watchmaker is hard to resist.

They make beautiful watches. If I were ever to spend big money on a new watch, it would probably be for something like that.
