·Beautiful find!
Sure does 👍
A bit surprised that it was produced that early. The others "know" 14755-61 FAP's (with same narrow serial range) are from july 1963. Well, just proves that movements/parts for these special orders, where taken out of the normal production line and saved until needed. As seen with the MoD SM300's also.
@watchknut, out of curiosity, did you mention the FAP engraving to Omega, in your request for the extract?
And since nobody seems to have called it yet... DIBS 😗
Well i have learned only to give them the serialnumber from the movement, that way I can be sure only to get the information that they have in the archives (so they not add. what I write or tell them about the watch on the extract)
Best Seamaster ever...
So, yeah, this happened...
The grandson posted about inheriting it from his grandfather, and I reached out. After some back and forth we agreed on a price and it arrived today.
As the story goes, his grandfather was issued this 300 in the early 1960s from the FAP when he was a Colonel. He rose to be a Major General in the FAP...the highest ranking officer!
Included with the watch were some lapel pins, and I am getting a full history and digital documents from the grandson.
In February the grandson traveled to Peru to see his grandfather who was very ill. On his deathbed he told his grandson about his watches and military documents and awards. Upon his passing the grandson found the 300 in a drawer...so yes, literally a drawer find.
As you can see, it is original and in pretty darn sweet shape. Haven't opened yet, as I don't want to risk scratching the caseback. Some decent DNA on this one.
Pretty excited to add a straight lug Omega to the collection.
