I love triple dates.

if you want a bi color and a triple date them go for it. Bicolors are not that common...

It’s not my choice though... it’s rare any bicolor speaks to me and this one even less so then most.

In my opinion, it is quite ugly (sorry to say). But that’s just my taste.

^ what he said and I don't particularly care for this example. But that's just my opinion. To the OP, buy what you like and will wear.

If you like the triple date and the TT effect AND are open to suggestions...I think that there is a much nicer example available here on the forum + it's a moon phase !

I’d do that one in a heartbeat over the one OP posted.

... it's a Speedmaster, 3321.80 "triple date" two toned, used, no books, cards or boxes. Picture below is not of the actual watch, but something I grabbed off of the Internet. Actual watch (I hope) isn't so dull looking (the gold looks kind of brassy in this image).

Seller has it priced at $3350, which is high, but it appears to be in good nick, albeit with no service history. I need another watch like I need a hole in the head, and with all of the complications, I predict that it would be expensive to get serviced. Unfortunately it's not local so I can't look at it in person, and since they don't make these any more, I can't just run to the mall and check it out at the Omega store.

Anyone have comments on why I should avoid this particular watch, or conversely, not let it get away? I believe it is 39mm, which is perfect for me.

Thanks!
This watch appears to include everything I hate about a watch.

1. I don’t like dates that are tiny and lack thought in positioning here the day and month is a tiny hole, with a bold colour that doesn’t match the dial, however at least the font appears to match “automatic”.

2. A lack of symmetry gives this watch a very dated appearance almost kitsch and childlike. Almost like a designer who has just started school and wanted to try out something different without real reasoning.

3. A cluttered layout - classic understated design goes a long way and will enable watches to much easier retain value as almost everybody enjoys a classic watch.

4. I count blue, white, red, yellow (gold), (silver) steel and black. This many colours is an easy way to make a design look poorly considered and lacking in sophistication. Not to mention it’s rather gaudy.

To sum up the case alone is quite pleasing and I imagine a more subtle considered dial would turn this watch into something much better - what you have presented today however I wouldn’t look twice at and would struggle to compliment if a friend was wearing it.

That said what matters most is how you feel about it, if it makes you feel amazing buy it because who cares about others opinions! You only live once.

EDIT - also don’t get me wrong, I can live with some of the points above individually but each of these add up to create an unfortunate combination.

Sorry, it doesn’t work. Just get a standard stainless steel triple date with blue dial 😁

This is a much nicer option, thanks. But his asking price seems high, which is probably why after 3 months it's still for sale...

I've been thoroughly dissuaded from buying this, thanks everyone. I didn't really need it anyway. Enjoying my Seamaster today. Look how simple that dial is! And it's all one color...

If you buy it, millions will die who would not die before. And it will be your fault.

There, how’s that? 😀
Only if you buy it from Edith Keeler. 😉

Remember to take all of our comments with a grain of salt. We all have different tastes, and you should believe in yourself. The watch itself is fine and in the hand I'm sure it'd be nicer than on a computer screen. If you fell in love with it don't be dissuaded.

I have watches with scratches right across the dial, that many collectors would never even consider owning. But, for me I still get a wonderful feeling when I wear it - it's 80 years old and it's unique case and dial make it very special for me. Collecting is about satisfying your passion, not other people 😀

The watch "complications" are very straightforward, so personally I don't charge any more to service one of these than I do any other automatic chronograph. Omega won't charge you more because of the complications, but they will because of the gold.

On a personal note, TT is fugly to me so this is a hard pass...

I've had quite a few Valjoux 7750 based watches over the years, all have been very reliable, even the triple date versions have been reliable and accurate. Never get scared off by this seemingly complex movement.

Personally I don't think Omega's use of this movement is very attractive. It's un-Omega like.

I don’t mind it, but it wouldn’t be something I would buy. But it sounds like you like it, so if it speaks to you, you should get it.

It ain't speakin' to me no mo! I'm a bit of a flipper, I buy stuff, enjoy it for a while, and then move on. Watches, cars, whatever... I have A.D.D.+.+

So, knowing that it won't be with me forever, if it gathers this much hate, my feeling is to pass, since I'd never be able to get rid of it.

And if I didn't already have doubt, I wouldn't have posted this thread. I would have just bought it. 😀

Well the supervillan Thanos would argue the world is overpopulated anyways... if takes away millions of those who have suffering through life in misery with painful illness, starvation, or guilty rapists and murders, would it still be a fault?

Offering up a contrarian view here on this model: I vote buy it, because it 100% personifies minions! The colorway is a perfect match, and it's only appreciated by those of us with a little bit of villain in our blood.

But at at a lower price though... maybe in the $2,500 to $2,800 range.

P.S. Make sure the case pusher pen is included in any examples you buy?

I also fall into the minority camp of: this could be a good looking piece on some folks. Not me, but for some. Way over-priced IMO, though.

Yes, nice - at first, I even thought my boy might like it to travel with. So... problem? It's the Roman numerals - I just dont understand how they match the Speedy ethos, and they bring the clutter right back, which is a shame imho, because otherwise it pulls off the MP. JM2c!

What an ugly watch... This got me thinking has anyone ever made a top ten ugliest Speedmasters or is there a thread about the subject? (I used the search function but got nothing).
