There are many out there including me that hold the belief that chronos should be kept far away from water. So I was just curious how many of you guys swim or shower in your Speedy's? I've owned a vintage Speedy for years before buying a 3861 so now I can rinse it in the sink when it's a little dirty. Omega tells their customers to swim with their speedy's but how many of you do? I for one like I said would stay far away from water but now my opinion might be changing.
Shower I do...swimming, I wear my Seamaster or some other kind of dive watch. The physical activity of swimming makes me worried that I may inadvertently press something, or the crown will come out for some godforsaken reason.
For me, no I don’t wear the Speedy for swimming. I have Seamasters for that. However, I’ve heard it’s actually “worse” for the watch to take a shower with it than to swim because the steam can penetrate seals where water normally wouldn’t. Not sure how true it is but it makes sense.
Here is a thread: https://omegaforums.net/threads/nevermind-this-thread-must-end.102895/#post-1344922 This topic comes up every now and then...
Pure laziness. I normally don't shower with any watch, but sometimes I keep it on to get the gunk off...
My brand new one couldn’t handle being outside let alone water so no way. Should be back with me tomorrow from omega.
I have a friend who had a new Speedmaster. Loved it. Never took it off except to wind. It took almost 2 years for the water to get in.
I believe half of the revenue from the new ads and subscriptions is needed by OF just to support this topic.
