It's funny that every example I've seen here from other brands is exactly what Rolex does with Tudor and definitely not what Omega is doing with Swatch. Food for thought Slightly lower price point, some design queues from the bigger brother, but not an actual replica with all the branding of the bigger brother.

Why doesn't Mercedes put C63s and Mercedes badging on the Smarts?

PS: I'll be very curious to see the influencers outside of the watch world that will actually care about this and, furthermore, what sort of response they'll get from their followers.

 

I showed these to my wife yesterday and she excitedly came up with her favorites. She doesn't wear watches and she wants several of these.

P.S. The last time I went to that Swatch store the sales associate asked me if my Planet Ocean was a Citizen and then proceeded to tell me that he had a 2531.80 and his Dad had just picked up a Sea Dweller.

 

This is what I was considering yesterday (SF). It would be neat to meet up with other OF members. However, seeing other people talk about how lines are already forming and these will eventually be available online… I’m gonna sleep in and wait.

 

Yeah, I have no problem waiting until the initial hype dies down before I purchase one. I would also like to see them in the flesh before I partake in a Mission to Uranus.

I like the look and certainly do not believe that this will affect value of Omegas negatively in any way, quite the opposite. This should broaden the customer base and increase demand for the "real thing".
That being said, with rising prices of watches, I feel that increasing demand is not the best thing to happen to enthusiastic collectors, as opposed to financially driven ones.

 

This is great news. I can paintently wait. I think these will be a hit. And also a great gift for my sons, who at some point will inherit my real Speedmaster watches, but until then, the moonSwatch is a good option in the interim.

I'm gonna need that Mission to Neptune. I just want to know if they're unbearably loud like normal Swatches.

 

I am oddly excited by these and don't see any harm to the Omega brand. In fact it might be a gateway drug the Swatch Speedmaster kids could grow up and want the real thing some day. As for myself, I might get one as a beater. Any idea how solid the case feels? Not familiar with the material.
