No.

Mmm, must be one of those battery ones Dennis is always bragging about. 😒

I agree with a previous poster. I wore my Omega Deville last weekend to a wedding. 32912083edb06329fde92823bd441dc9.jpg

HEY !!! I got married in that 🫨

Me too, but mine was a darker bright blue with black piping and my bow tie looked like a big furry black tarantula. I think my shirt had ruffles on it too, I must have looked like a Viennetta ice cream cake.

As previously noted, the watch should match the rest of the attire as far as colour goes.

A formal dress watch should be smaller than normal, preferably on a flat leather strap, dial should be simple without any complications. It should be totally unobtrusive and only used to time the speeches if they get too long.

And I see somebody has already mentioned the "C" word.

My choices.

Forgive the reflection on the crystals, daylight has gone from here.

OK, since we can pick more than one for those special days: How 'bout a Lange 1815 😀

I'm going to vote for the reverso duo, despite the jibes - wore it to my wedding 😁

Not mentioned previously but could also work -IWC Portugeuse or Portofino or perhaps one of a few different Nomos models haven't been mentioned yet, Baume & Mercier perhaps, Cartier

No chronos! 🤦- think simple there-hander time only !!! - its a formal event if they have specified a tuxedo, do the happy couple to be the courtesy of observing their wishes.

As others have mentioned, metal to match your other accoutrements - shirts studs, cufflinks to match watch metal or colour.

Oh, and it goes without saying, no divers either!

LeCoultre used to make stunning tuxedo watches back in the 1950's:

General Patton:

Or this one, name unknown, that I fished out of the 'Bay this month:

They pop up on eBay from time to time.

Congratulations,

What is that second watch?

Sorry @dlg, forgot to reply.

It an Omega (of course) model 111.004. Polished stainless steel tank case (am I allowed to use "tank" 😉).

Movement is a manual wind Caliber 620 which makes for a very flat thin watch. And with the classically elegant time only hands and bar markers, it's almost calatrava like in its exotic simplicity.

It sure is. E has had a picture of that watch in his Photobucket account for years.

This is the picture I cribbed from an old eBay auction, circa 2007:

I think it was taken without the crystal.

There was a version in a slightly different 18K case that came with a white and gold dial:

Both of the these are as 1950's as a Cadillac Eldorado with the big tail fins.

And now mine will be off to the watchmaker tomorrow for a well-deserved rest.

@gatorcpa - What's that..... the 3rd or 4th black dial LeCoultre you own?
It's the third. The second one is waiting for you to say you want it back. 😜😎

Honestly, I never thought I would find the one above. I never, ever, ever thought I would be able to buy it for what I paid.
