Stainless sports Rolex dealer stock........

I completely understand that that's the case. What I'm getting at is I don't understand everyone's acceptance of it.

The fact Rolex have artificially limited stock to increase the desirability of their product, to the point where people who apparently have a good relationship with their AD are happy that they only have to wait 12 months is a complete and utter piss take.

Really reminds me of communist shopping experiences with empty stores and you never know what delivery the store will get.
I am stupid enough to not mind the very high prices on Rolex but their watches are made by robots and should not be scarce nor overpriced.
Sounds that paying a few extra thousands is cheaper than relationship building.
Now, how unfortunate that I detest this practice!!

I used to really like Rolex as to me I like to look at the watch on my wrist and feel good, however can’t stand the bullshit associated with a bad customer buying experience, not really bothered about the money it might make I would rather just work a bit more to earn the same money, equally if something costs a bit more on the gray market I will buy it unless I don’t think it’s worth the money, which is where Rolex is heading right now.... my last Rolex I got a discount on so all good but the attitude I have had recently from ad’s is pushing me away from the brand as I won’t brown nose anyone to take my hard earned cash and the people that do only encourage bad behaviour by Rolex and their partners, they would soon stop messing about if people put their money with another brand.

What gets to me is that it has taken me decades to get to a stage in life where I can afford a new stainless steel Rolex.

Oh well, turns out i can't. . . . After all this time I find it ironic I can afford a new one, just not a new one from a grey because there aren't any to be had at any dealers.

That being said I've been "allowed" on a list for a black gmt. Blnr. Forget about it.

Maybe I should just get a Tudor gmt . Maybe that's just what Rolex wants!?

You’ll have to get on their list as well! It’s a nicer nicer watch though IMHO.

Last I remember they had quite a selection at the Toronto Boutique.

I bobbed into the local AD today and was told there's currently a two year wait for a Sub and they have no idea on the new GMT but they currently have over 200 people on the wait list.

Every dealer in the Seattle area has been flush out of SS Sport Models for months. I don’t even bother stopped in anymore

Ben Bridge Bellevue just told me they have a SS Sub date model available but won’t be in until next week.

I'm on the list for the white faced SS Daytona on the assumption that in 4 years (estimated waiting list) I'll be at that stage in life ...haha.

I can't afford to buy regularly from my AD but I will buy a Tudor in the coming months to show willing in the hope a daytona may come to fruition one day!

Here in Montreal at my normal downtown-core AD the waitlist is "undefined" but certainly many months, meaning that you can get ditched in ahead of others if you "know someone" or buy something obscenely priced at the same time (his/hers Hublots anyone?). Example: my brother has such a contact so recently got a black GMT at a 25% discount same-day as a walk-in referred by an aformentioned big-spending contact (really big spending...). The good news story is my brother is fickle and doesn't like the black ceramic so I stepped up to buy it from him for what he paid 😀 He ordered a batman and will have it in 2 weeks, no discount.

As an aside I don't know why there doesn't seem to be a lot of love for the black-only ceramic...I think it looks great. My brother and I each bought black/red ones in '86 but sold them after 4-5 years, his for $1100 and mine for $1500 haha! He wants another black/red now but you can't even get that combo without going PM. I'm not a fan of the manipulative Rolex color-choice system...red and black is the classic color combo, only superceded by pepsi. I'm not in love with the weird green highlights of the black GMT but I'm not complaining given the circumstances of the acquisition!!!

Congratulations @Alphasports!
I tried the black GMT and thought it looked very refined and almost bought it. I’m red/green color blind though, so the GMT hand didn’t pop for me like the BLNR.

Rolex flagship store on 5th Ave had 400 people on the GMT waitlist after 2 days, and stopped adding names.

I know, right! ! I was wondering if anyone else was thinking that all of this waitlist stuff was insane. I felt like everyone I came across was drinking the Kool-Aid and feeding into it.

I really want a Rolex, especially a GMT. It’s the only GMT that I want, but all of this waiting for two to three years to buy a watch is crazy! I really would like to know the amount of people that are just done with Rolex until you can either walk in and buy the watch or wait a reasonable amount of time like two weeks.

The Rolex brand will still have prestige without the scarce supply. If anything the scarcity makes me dislike Rolex even more, because it’s artificial. Not the type of brand I want to rep.

I expect them to release a beautiful new invisible watch. It will cost a lot, but wearer's lives will be so much richer. Ebay is developing new technology to verify each piece listed with them.

I can't help but think in the 4 years of being on the daytona list, something attractive will come along and I'll buy it. Its a huge risk Rolex is dicing with. I don't understand why second hand values to them is as important as profit and desirability. I get that waiting lists and limited supply creates this demand but as a new rolex customer they appear to be alienating me before I've even had a chance to be caught by their hook.

I don’t think it’s much of a risk - if you get the call and you no longer care, there will be 300+ people on the list behind you that will then get the look....

If y’all want modern Rolex so bad, there are always used and grey market watches out there. Looks like the perfect opportunity to start collecting vintage, which you’ll probably do eventually anyway.

I read some comments in another forum — that you have to pay to be able to play. That relates to one of the posts about big spenders being able to get the choice timepiece. I would say that this is not just a Rolex issue but an issue across all brands with a hot model. Hence, I wouldn’t take it out against Rolex. It’s just so happened that they’re in a streak with their hit products.
