Looks like gold not steel and the price in sing fits more with the gold too

Its a bi-color with white gold, bezel and center links are white gold and the case is steel. There are a few reasons why I think its the least desirable... As you noted the white gold looks like steel on that piece, the white dial does it no favors, and if your going for that model (which I personally like) every other combo either looks better or fits the price better. The blue and grey on steel, on the other hand are amazing and have long waiting lists.

Wow, that shop lighting really gives the watch a big hint of rose pink, would never have said that it was a mix of SS and WG. Just shows how light can alter our perception of colour. Nice watch though.

The price on it is the gold with bracelet price, 65k sing is about 48k usd which equates to all gold, nearly certain this is the rose gold white dial.

Gosh, another person in Singapore. Anyone know if there is a way to look up all members by country? I would be a useful way to try to organise some kind of get together.

Ahh I see it now. I was looking on my phone and it color shifts at night. I assumed it was the SS do to this thread and the way it looked with the color shift.

I just got my 2019 Datejust 126234. When I ordered it a month ago the AD said they expected it hopefully before Christmas. This was based on the rate they were receiving them with the first coming to them in late may. Suddenly Friday I got a call and they had received it. When I asked about this they told about the usual unpredictability of Rolex deliveres but said they had suddenly received a much larger quanitity than they had expected. Not a sports watch but I found it strange (but nice 😀) none the less.

There is definitely a shortage and I've heard that Rolex is increasing their production (slightly), but that wont help with the "crisis". I think it really does boil down to how you build your relationship with your AD/jeweler. While not every shop will have a good rep, they are out there and if you put the time, energy and effort into getting to know them (across multiple shops), talking watcges, swinging by every so often to say hello (or pick up something for your wife/gf) then they'll go to bat for you when the good stuff comes in. Patience is key, this is a long process and does not fall under the instant gratification category.

I just sent this message to an AD that is also selling "used" stainless steel GMTs for 2x retail. It's getting ridiculous!!

"I really dont understand how xxxx can be an AD for Rolex and also sell the new stainless GMT as a used item for twice the retail price. It is totally absurd that I cant buy a new one at retail price anywhere. You guys are destroying the brand"

I looked for contact info on the Rolex site and it just points back to the ADs and says to contact them directly, which I did with that email message. If anyone has contact info for Rolex, I'm happy to contact them directly

Well it’s been a while and even with the global pandemic nothing much has changed, prices are still going up with stainless steel sports models and the predicted bubble bursting hasn’t dampened enthusiasm........

I'd be curious as to how much of the Rolex bubble is being driven by grey market dealers (like seeing the photo below).

If ADs everywhere are just selling direct to grey market dealers, who hoard Rolexes and create an artificially high price - it doesn't necessarily mean demand is peaking.

The world does this with diamonds, that are not rare at all but have an artificially ridiculous price.

Agreed with the comment above, retailers are greedy

If anything I think the pandemic has made it worse. Now everyone is a wannabe watch dealer.

I’ve had a FS ad out for a while now and 100% of my responses have been from people who trade on the side either by eBay, C24 or through their own web shops. They’ve not even been that good at hiding the fact.

if we’re not careful the watch market will end up like the antiques market in the U.K. where a vast majority of transactions are dealers moving their own stock around between themselves. Nothing decent left for the customers.

I'm seeing the same. Private sales and collector-to-collector transactions are few and far these days. Many of my old favorite 'forum classifieds' are now only parts (mostly bezels) and large numbers of listings from a few dealers and flippers. I know I'm generalizing and there are exceptions but there seem to be lots of side-hustlers churning inventory.
