Stainless sports Rolex dealer stock........

They are selling to their friend the gray market and pocketing the profits of people snapping stuff up for 2k or higher just cause they are in demand.
And all the resellers are buying to do the same.

Bull. Rolex would cut them off if they were, and they would know because every watch sold has to go through a registration process. You'd have to be an unusually stupid AD to do it. They don't have the stock because Rolex hasn't been sending them any sports models. Why? Only they know for sure. You may have noticed most of the big gray market resellers aren't fat with "unworn" Rolex sport stock either.

Got lucky. Walked in Santa Monica Rolex and 20 minutes earlier a Submariner, a Submariner date, and a Deep Sea just came in. Bought the Submariner no date. Man, was that Deep Sea crazy thick.

$7500. No discount. Most are now paid for in advance of arriving. Very hard to find right now. Still trying to find a BLNR

Good luck to you and anyone else trying to find one. I take a good 5 calls a day for my Hulk thats for sale and everyone seeking a new one, I tell them the same answer....

If you can find one, buy it... but you wont.

I have a new sub available but its at a premium like most steel sports are.

Went into Watches of Switzerland Brighton to be told their not putting any names on lists for stainless professional models at the moment and their allocation as a company for 2018 has been reduced by 20%?

im very curious to see how this plays out. It may affect the grey market enough that it works how they planned. And it stops or slows down the flipping. Or people start to get fed up with Rolex's bs and move on to other things. Was watching some youtube videos before and apparently they made a big deal about the AD removing stickers and stuff during the sale. Who knows. Bold move Rolex, bold move. All I know is what I see, and there are always "BNIB SUBS, GMTS or w.e." for sale on the rolex forums and here, premium attached of course 🙄

Perhaps another Canadian can chime in but an associate of mine was looking at a Sub (greater Toronto area) and it seems like they have stock.

Purchased both a GMT and Sub Date last year, local dealer put me on the list but felt I would be waiting ages, tried the Northampton dealer whom I had purchased items from before and sure enough I got a call after a couple of months wait, just before Christmas which surprised me!

I'm sure like any retailer Rolex dealers favour previous customers.

They did remove the seals from the sub date on instructions from Rolex HQ at the time of purchase, it did not bother me.

Also had a weeks holiday in the Cannaries in the summer and they had SS models in the window ready to go - duty free as well!

Try the smaller dealers out of town/city.....

My Omega AD told me today that he spoke with a friend who is a Rolex AD and they said that SS are currently 50% of sales revenue and their new target is 30%. He says Rolex doesn’t think like a for profit company as they are essentially owned by the State and have other motivations such as employment, etc.

Well if the AD is correct, Omega, Zenith and Breitling will all be opening champagne bottles in the short term😀 I do think though that Rolex are pushing it a bit too far in terms of restricting supply on a permanent basis. On TRF I have seen increasing irritation...some joking that it is no use getting excited about any upcoming Rolex Basel 2018 releases as you will have to probably wait for five years before getting any new hot sports models.

Yesterday I checked out the Rolex instagram account and all the recent posts are focused on the Datejust and Skydeweller. So it does look like they are trying to push non-sport SKUs. Perhaps in the Asian / Chinese market Rolex dressier watches have stronger appeal...it has been stated that the Constellation is the best selling Omega in China. All WIS forums have a strong Anglo-Saxon bias, so we might not be seeing the overall global market picture.

Is Rolex trying to make a point how to play the grey market?
Instead of discounted watches from grey market dealers, Rolex are more expensive and the only way to get some new models.
I am still trying to wrap my head around Rolex not wanting their ADs to sell more watches.

To take it one step further, Rolex is now requiring AD's to only sell watches to customers who are able to come in person for pickup. AD's that follow these rules closely get larger SS sport model allotment. This from my local AD whom I contacted via telephone.

Again, one more step in trying to restrict gray market circulation.

Tudor doing the same thing. Would not ship within conus. I found a watch in Oregon. Wanted shipped to me. AD contacted tudor to see if OK and Tudor said no. Strange in this day and age when most things are bought online.

You could always come and visit Oregon. Although this isn’t the nicest time of year, I bet there are several really nice coffee shops like Stumptown or Public Domain within a block or two of that Tudor. Besides, you would always remember the adventure to get it!

These conversations with ADs tend to contain a lot of misinformation. On TRF, there are seemingly daily posts about what "XYZ AD" is saying/doing that is official Rolex policy only to be countered by numerous other posters and their ADs.

Rolex is up to something. Either they are launching new movements/models and want to beat down current inventory, trying to strangle the grey market (which I doubt since it benefits them) or something else entirely, remains to be seen. What can be assured is: It won't benefit the customer

Did that once when I bought a porsche on Portland. Cool city. Went to school at UW so I was fairly familiar with the city. Cool vibe there.
