And probably sold to the gray market just as fast for a nice profit, based on the number I see on the various sites. I’ve always suspected a lot of these “highest spending customers” are speculators buying stock at retail to flip for a profit. I wonder how quickly the inflated aftermarket prices would drop if ADs simply sold to a customer who would keep the watch to actually wear. Of course, figuring that out is a whole other problem....
I hate to agree with what you said but I was at an independent AD not long ago (making a non Rolex purchase) and a gentleman walked in and the owner turned over four Rolex boxes to him. No sales transaction, walked in, received them and left. I assume a local grey market seller but I would hope this AD wasn’t fueling grey sales.
Yep, must have been. Nice brand new Rolex boxes. I guess when I had my Rolex maintenance done they forgot to put it in a brand new box....
Every AD is just selling to Flippers above MSRP ... every single one....
All the employees know about it and no one has ever confirmed it....
Having seen it with other brands I’m not surprised. Incentives are aligned after all.
However, an AD mentioned that Rolex is starting to try and investigate such shenanigans. I suppose it makes sense for the brand long term, but I’m surprised considering it’s driving more and more demand for other, less in demand Rolex watches.
Likely just hearsay and speculation, so just par for the course with anything involving Rolex.
What about something from the range we have in stock instead? Couple - unsure, what do you have that you can show us.
I didn’t hear the rest of the conversation as ‘she who must be obeyed’ wanted to go elsewhere
There’s stock out there in AD’s, or there was until I hoovered it all up .
In addition to this lot they had WG Daytona’s on Oysterflex and bracelet, Black dial Daytona plus a boat load of Subs all waiting to be collected.

I hope you hoovered up that 116506
I don't imagine Rolex investigating AD selling. That would be an extra cost, & AD's are meant to sell.
If Rolex wanted to stop the practice, they could increase the wholesale price.
Rolex would make a bigger margin, AD's would make a bigger profit, resellers get shafted.
I suspect Rolex likes the current situation.
