Speedmaster, time to decide and hunt

Have you managed to spend time with any of the watches you've listed, on your wrist @Rodmar ?

I've bought and sold quite a few in the last 18 months, often without getting to try them first, some I've fallen in love with, one or two didn't work out and were gone a few weeks later.

I know it can be a struggle to find some of these watches in bricks and mortar stores, but it really would help you decide. 馃憤
Man do I wish I could get my hands on a few to see! I'm really a visual guy, and it would be nice to "see" them in person. Not only that I could see how they feel on my tiny wrists 馃榾

I live in the Midwest and the nearest possible boutique is I would guess 4 hours away. I usually make my way up there every once and awhile so I'll have to soon @tyrantlizardrex

Honestly at that price you can get a 145.022
Prices I see on these are $4,000-5k Not that I couldn't foot it, but then I'd be grabbing a CK2998.

My only concern is getting a racing without trying it on. I own the precourser to the racing in what I believe is the same case. I find I rarely wear it, granted mines a panda with red details so part of it is that I doesn't match what I wear a lot. I will admit the detailing on the racing is a bit better on the hands then my speedmaster Yemen.

A lot comes to size the Speedmaster in 40mm is an odd size for me as I'm a bigger guy. It has the proportions of a bigger watch at the smaller size.

TLDR: try one on first.

I think I'll have to just make a 4hr ride up and try some on, hopefully they have some on hand for me to check out.

40mm is about where I want to be in size, so that isn't much of a concern.

I do like the different details that come with the racing models.

This guys willing to come down it looks like, he just messaged me back.

Should I be concerned that it's coming from Saudi Arabia.....For the right price, I still may be able to grab another from my list!

The pics of the side profile looks to be horribly polished. I'd pass for sure.

I saw that one, and I'm still considering all my options. I like complete watches tho and he's missing box, and papers.
Also got the ebay one down to 1850 without much work, so could maybe get it for less. I'll look at the pictures again to look for the polishing.

Hmmm I don't really see it, but I'm no expert on looking for the polishing....

Just an update, he came down to $1,600 and I think he would do $1,500. At $1,500 with box, and papers, in it's condition, is it a bad buy?

At $1,500 I could jump on another watch possibly then.

I am personally not a fan of that watch at all, even at that price. Lume looks really chunky and thick. Lume on 11 hour marker looks blah (second 1 digit) Possibly a relume? Polished, automatic. It just doesnt do anything for me at all.

A couple more pics he sent.

You think it's been relumed? The polish I can see now, but does that really make a difference if you plan to wear the watch? I'm actually curious, if it does, so please don't take the questioning wrong.

I cant say for sure, as I am new to this whole watch thing as well. Lume to me just looks off when I compare to other 3520.53. Look at the watch that watchcollect posted above. Lume on it looks more uniform and covers numbers completely. It may not be relume, but it again to me it doesnt look quite right.

I understand now, I'll keep thinking on what to do between those two.

I keep coming back to this one to be honest,

http://www.jomashop.com/omega-watch...$3000+-+6000&gclid=CJmNouzt7dECFdiCswodpbMDig

Best price I can find on this and it's complete and NIB even. I just don't know, at this price if I should ever need to will it holds it value for resale down the road.....

I should add that I just mean, it should be able to get around what I paid give or take a couple hundred.
I really like how the white/silver dial speedys look on a dark brown leather band.

I'm in the same boat. I want a new watch, probably a speedmaster, but would like something a bit different. As cool as some of them are there is only one "Moonwatch." I keep thinking that if I bought something else I'd regret it. More than likely once I see one on a leather strap I really like I'll pull the trigger.

Good luck!

I agree, same boat for sure.....I do plan to get the "Moonwatch" down the road, but for the time being, I need something different. Leather straps really look good on these watches for sure.
