Can't decide on what to get.....I don't plan to grab a 311.30.42.30.01.005 until the end of the year, but it is on my want list below. For now I wanna try to find a complete speedmaster, but I want something a little different then the black dialed we see a lot of. I can't be the only one!

Now while speedmaster threads are plentiful, I hope I don't upset too many people. I really want to do some good research before I make this purchase as I plan to only get 1. Since I only need 1, I'm gonna say that option 5 and 6 may be out for now haha, budget is 3k or less.

Ok list of wants:
Speedmasters:
1.) 326.30.40.50.02.001

3.) 3210.52

6.) 323.30.40.40.06.001 Panda
Still looking for link.
7.) 311.30.42.30.01.005

8.) 3221.31

9.) 323.30.40.40.04.001

After much discussion and back and forth, I've decided on #9.Now it's time to hunt!

I never remotely liked the reduced or racing speedy designs.

If you want just 1, gotta be # 5 or 7 =). Such perfect balance in the subdials and the rest of the design. You wont normally find #7 for $3k or less unless its used.

#7 I can get for around $3,250 at the end of the year or sooner depending on when it pops up for me to grab. But I have time to grab that one.

#5 it's more of a wish, like I wish I had 5k to spend, or I wish I hit the lottery.....But it defiantly is my favorite.

Its clear you want a handsome and rare watch. And not tooo sure of just what.

I recommend looking at this. I have seen this in the metal and I was surprise how much I liked it. Its a very serious piece of kit, and I have not seen another.

https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-speedmaster-split-seconds-rattrapante-3540-50-00-£2-250.52219/

My instinct is that this watch will grow on you, where as all the others are repeatable, and easy to find. Certainly from my point of view the modern 1863 speedmaster is without charm, (too clinical with the superluminova, flat dial) and the CK2998 is a watch I loved when I read about it, and now I find it less and less attractive each time I see one.

Still - dont put too much on what I say, I am a vintage nut.

I have been looking at that piece, and I've looked at it a few times now. I've thought about it, but you're right it would need to grow on me. But as of now, I just can't get into it. It is under budget, which is always great since funds are limited. I keep coming back to the white dial's, they really catch my eyes, and I know I'll only ever buy darker dialed watches such as the Speedy 311, and so on. I think that gives me a chance to get into something while I can now that's a little different.

don't know if you're going to like it or not. Alternative to #5.
I think used sets somewhere might be 3k+. Even if it's a bit more, I think it'll hold good value with its racing and moon heritage. And short production run.
Saw the model, and I do like it, and considered it as well as this one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/25274585490...252745854904.N101.S2.R1.TR10&autorefresh=true

That's the issue,I like em all really. That's why the list is what it is and why it's so short in comparison to what's out there vs what I like.

I'm already quite indesiseive!

I'm not too keen on all of those numbers. I thought 105.012 was a enough numbers. 😕

But on the subject of a nice watch for your budget...I like the Omega Speedmaster Split-Seconds Automatic Chronometer Chronograph reference 3540.50.00 that Spacefruit pointed out. That's an unusual and cool looking bit of kit.

Funny stuff. That is not how it works.

You have more options if you go used. I totally get not wanting the typical back dial speedy. I prefer my Gemivi4 and CK2998 over my 3572.50.

I have always like the MarkIV and would very much consider this one used. It looks cool, and colorful.

Tough choice you have. My first Omega was the 3572.50 and while it gets the least wrist time of all my speedies, its a birth year speedy for my youngest son and I very much look forward to the day I can gift it to him (10 or so years from now).

Good luck and welcome to OF.

One popped up for sale today: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-BRAND...ATCH-CHRONOGRAPH-RARE-311-30-42-/192091979971

And something a bit different to think about OP: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polished-OM...999-Moon-Watch-3571-50-BF112083-/311791701159

Edit: So much for the 2nd link. Already gone

I'd have to agree that @Spacefruit 's buddies 3540 is different for sure and I like it, just not enough to add it to my list as of yet.

I like the CK2998 of all in your list but it seems to be the most expensive as well of all. 😀

I just purchased a chocolate dial speedmaster prof and love it. Not a bad choice if you don't want to go for black dial yet. I was kinda thinking the same way as you that I wanted to be a lit different.

Have you managed to spend time with any of the watches you've listed, on your wrist @Rodmar ?

I've bought and sold quite a few in the last 18 months, often without getting to try them first, some I've fallen in love with, one or two didn't work out and were gone a few weeks later.

I know it can be a struggle to find some of these watches in bricks and mortar stores, but it really would help you decide. 👍
