Hi there and welcome.

1985 is also my birthyear and one important chapter of my personal collection. So far I’ve been able to gather 4 different Speedmasters from 1985 with boxes and papers :

- NOS Moonwatch 145.022
- « 20y of Flight qualified » LE 345.0808
- « Golden panda » DD 145.022
- « White German » DD 145.022

None made in September, can’t help with the serials...

Hope you find the right one. Be careful of all C24 offers with 48M serials listed as 1985 because the sellers have no clue and check wrong serials ref table (Maddox).

Nice collection!!!!

Quick question about the ilovemyspeedmaster website:
When I search for 1985 it shows a range from 46670719 to 47039451.
But when I plug in some numbers in the 47133XXX range, it shows September 1985.

When you search the above numbers it shows:
46670719: Sept 1984 and
47039451: May 1985

Now I realize this is based on a few data points and interpolates the numbers you plug in, but which way should be more accurate?
Sounds like if the precise serial number is important, the only way to be sure is to buy a watch with an EoA...

You can always try to find a watch that has an extract the archives dating it to 1985, or try to find a sale that has box and papers with the receipt dated 1985.

Yeah, sounds like that's the only option to be sure.

The ilovemyspeedmaster website states that they use 287 extracts. I'm assuming most of them would be from the '60s and '70s.
The further you get away from the cluster of data points, the less accurate the interpolation will be.

Are you going to buy the September 1985 you found? Or not worth it?

I figured you'd already snatched it up 😉
Surprisingly I'm looking at two 47133XXX watches right now. Be interesting to know the exact numbers on both!

Get you one of these, go back to 1985, and skip the hassle lol
On a serious note though, good luck with the hunt and with the eventual move! Sounds like you're headed to an interesting area both historically and horologically.

Haha, good one! I don't even want to look up Speedmaster prices in 1985. I'd just be crying...
Thanks, not looking forward to the process of moving, but excited about the afterwards!

Hi there,
I was also looking for a birthyear 1985 Speedy for a while, and i must say it was somehow depressingly difficult, so i gave up 😀
Maybe some day it will just manifest itself..
Good luck with the hunt!

What was the issue, prices too high or lack of quality pieces? Or a combination?
