A couple of years ago, late 2017, a post from Moonwatch Only appeared in my Instagram feed : For Sale, 345.0808 Omega Speedmaster second numbered edition. I immediately contacted Greg and told him I firmly want to buy his watch. I already had the first numbered edition from 1985, celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Flight Qualification, a full set with the black medallion box and papers; I needed to have this one in my collection. A week later I picked up the watch. Perfectly as described, the set was full, and the condition outstanding (except some light damages to the box). The papers stamped from the shop, sold on August 26, 1989. The numbered edition certificate filled with the number of the watch : A0060 The watch itself, absolutely outstanding. A wonderful light yellow lume, so typical of the 80/90s Tritium. The caliber 863 (Gold, second generation) is a pure beauty. 809 end-links and the famous 1450 bracelet, as you would expect to see on a limited edition Speedmaster from the late eighties. Everything of the Moonwatch. Love it. Now you probably thinking "Why the hell are you posting this only now, Alexis?" Right. There's a good reason. And the reason is Today Let me tell the rest of this story. Early in 2018, I decided to order an Extract from the Omega Archives to find out when my new watch was produced and eventually learn more about it. The extract arrived in April 2018 and here's where it's getting really special. Honestly, I even didn't immediately notice it All I was looking for was the reference and the country it's been delivered to. I wanted to see Germany to be sure everything matches. Till I notice... the Production date ! Long story short, what could be better than a full set of a limited edition watch, produced 30 years ago on the exact date as the Event it is celebrating? Happy July 20th, 2019 !
What a story! The 863 is truly a thing of beauty. I look at it way more than the 8400 on my Seamaster 300MC. My 3592.50 says hi
Awesome find. The only thing that could beat this is a Speedy with a production date of July 20th, 1969
very cool, though i'd guess that wasn't by chance, but a specific date choice. still i'm sure it was a great thrill to see it on the EoA. Congrats!
Triple A+ quality as usual Alexis! Great watch and set. I just passed a mirror and noticed a slight greenish taint in my face . Second dibs! Cheers, Max
What could be better? In my book : a NOS 2915-3 fullset BnP with extract stating '20 July 1959' But nothing other than that could beat this ...so your beaut gets a
Very cool! I got into luxury watches (mostly Omega) two years ago and just purchased my first watch, a full set 2531 Seamaster, back in April. I am mostly decided that my next will be a 3592 as I love the 863 movement. Great watch you've got there and a nice extract as well.
It's already hard enough to find a piece in this condition, but that plus such a special production date... you are a lucky man!! Congrats!!
