·I think last year ST was a better edition, the leather roll was more usable than the box of the new version IMHO. Reserved one anyway!
I guess you nailed it 👍
Rumours couldn’t be stopped, some people already knew what was coming: the Omega Speedy Tuesday 2 “Ultraman”. The big questions were just: how will it look and when will it be released. This is it, the ST2 “Ultraman”. A design inspired by the 1967 Speedmaster “Ultraman” (We covered it here). Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday 2 “Ultraman” […]

So, day #2 since ‘the bomb’ dropped. We have all had a chance to spend one day looking at it, then one night to sleep on it. Today yields fresh eyes and no surprises, everything processed. So, what do we think today?
(I think it’s better than I did yesterday, and yesterday I was fully convinced 👍)
@Robert-Jan Congrats on another beautiful piece!
A west coast Canadian (me hahaha) stayed up until 3:00 AM PST to reserve this baby. Got my birthdate on my first try. Furiously clicked the confirmation button after filling up my info... but get guess what? The button doesn’t work... I watched the 5:00 count down and continue to tick and until finally the timer went!
The best part? I refresh two other times, got it, BUT THE SAME THING HAPPENED!!! COME ON!!!
Lost out cause of the button <— Happened to multiple people. Not a fun experience!
Thanks for the support and nice comments. It was quite a blast today.
This is the issue with limited editions using an online raffle system with no pre-payment required.
For ST1, I imagine 80% of the people who reserved were genuine buyers who bought the watch to wear while 10% reserved to resell. The last 10% are those who reserved the watch to wear, saw the grey market prices and decided to resell. Because there was little to no notice given about the first ST, most people who reserved it truly loved the watch for what it was.
Now that people expect a ST every year and they have seen the grey market prices (at least the initial grey market prices), the percentage of people who will reserve to resell is just going to keep increasing with each subsequent edition.
The flaw in your logic there is that not every LE is going to sell at a premium. Use that line on an owner of a 60th LE 2915 and they may give you a wry smile since even a BNIB model will struggle to get much above RRP at present, and even ST1 models now sit around on sales forums for a quite while unless offered at only a smallish premium over list (check for yourself). Yes there can be a flurry of transactions at inflated prices right after launch but many of these watches (and there are many to choose from) wont and don't fly. I can see the ST2 launch softening values of the ST1 further incidentally...
