So, day #2 since ‘the bomb’ dropped. We have all had a chance to spend one day looking at it, then one night to sleep on it. Today yields fresh eyes and no surprises, everything processed. So, what do we think today?

(I think it’s better than I did yesterday, and yesterday I was fully convinced 👍)

Same as I thought yesterday. Not bad, but not for me. Too different than the original.

I would have totally noticed the DON even if I hadn’t read about it. My wife hates it when dots are NEXT to numbers.

What's the estimate on delivery of these? I recall a lot of frustration with the ST#1 delivery timelines. I have no dog in this fight, but I wouldn't be surprised if that happens again.

My only disappointment is that the chrono hand isn't luminous. In the overall scheme of things it's not such a big deal.

That's a very out-of-the-way but specific thing to hate.

So, you are sentenced to purchase only early Pre-Moon Speedies 😝

Assume 9-12 months and you probably will not get disappointed. But unlike the 60th series, you do not have to pay until you pick it up.

Same thoughts here...

The flaw in your logic there is that not every LE is going to sell at a premium. Use that line on an owner of a 60th LE 2915 and they may give you a wry smile since even a BNIB model will struggle to get much above RRP at present, and even ST1 models now sit around on sales forums for a quite while unless offered at only a smallish premium over list (check for yourself). Yes there can be a flurry of transactions at inflated prices right after launch but many of these watches (and there are many to choose from) wont and don't fly. I can see the ST2 launch softening values of the ST1 further incidentally...

Yes you are definitely right. It is all about supply and demand. The more people who try to resell equals to more supply, causing prices to stabilize. The more STs they issue, the more selective actual buyers are going to be. This equals to a more realistic subdued demand as opposed to a buying frenzy when people thought the ST1 was a one-time thing.

Why did they say an associate from Omega would be in contact with you in August then? I had assumed this was for payment.

I think it is because delivery of the original ST was significantly delayed. Back then, contact from Omega may be just to inform you of this delay. I am hoping things are going to be better this time around.

To answer your question, you only pay for the watch when you pick it up.

It would be nice to see some real-life "non-marketing" pictures of the watch to have an idea of how it looks like without makeup.

I could see just two in instagram.

Thanks for those. It is nice to see it in regular lighting and not just rely on the Omega Instagram picture.

Really looks like you won't notice the blacklight helmet at all unless you're at a rave. That was my only concern. Very excited to pick mine up!

I was actually thinking the same. But also the dial step is not very evident in these pictures. 😁

I think someone requested a more 'live' image. Here is one I just took in the Sun.

How scratch resistant is the hesalite crystal? I've never owned a watch without a sapphire before?

It isn't ;-) But you will get used to it. If you are not a total clumsy person, you will be fine. In the end, most scratches can be polished out very easily using this stuff called Polywatch (sort of a toothpaste, which will also work btw). But if it is really deeply scratched, you can have it replaced fairly easy during a service or just whenever you want. I always have the Hesalites replaced during a service. Comes back fresh.

Funny, everyone is focussed on the Ultraman elements of the design, and what I like are the elements that when combined are reminiscent of the original black dialed Speedmaster Racing

I completely agree with you. I've never seen an episode of Ultraman and the original watch doesn't move me at all. Once I seen all the design elements that were incorporated into this watch it checked so many boxes. Including that I was in the market for a Japan Racing but the new Ultraman even checks that box. Robert, his team and Omega did and excellent job!

Now lets see if the delivery can be as good.
