·Exactly...
The Daytona got lucky. It was always an oddball in the Rolex line up as it didn’t have a Rolex movement untill very recently. If it wasn’t for the Paul Newman connection they would be valued significantly less. The Pro is a workhorse and honestly a better design which the Daytona copied.. and copied poorly from a readability standpoint. Yes the moon connection helped but let’s face it, For a single color chronograph nothing is better looking or easily read then a pro.
The Sub and Speedy Pro are design icons. The Daytona has issues.
The reduced will always be the little brother to the Pro and will not eclipse it. The Grail and maybe the MK40 might see more movement compared to same year watches but those 2 are special for other reasons.
By regular Speedy I was referring to the 1861 model. For sure the reduced will never eclipse the vintage 321 or even 861. But considering how common the 1861 has become and how it will be sold by Omega by the tens of thousands for many years to come, there will come a point when the reduced with hesalite will become scarce and therefore will be more sought-after by collectors. The reduced has many similarities with the Paul Newman Daytona. Both were smaller than the Moonwatch, both had no inhouse movements and both were largely ignored during their time. More importantly, both are beautiful time pieces that can fit any wrist size. When you combine scarcity with desirability, you have a winner. The one who copies sometimes has the last laugh.
Anyway, your opinion is as good as mine. 😀
