It's a lovely gesture, as I don't have kids, or plan on having any then I don't know what to do with mine, I have a niece who will probably get everything eventually.

You could adopt me?

I’m gonna bow out of the market talk… it’s clear we’re dealing with a CFA level 9 here.
Actually I did not pass level 9, so I changed careers and now I am a successful motivational speaker.

Just to be clear it was not directed at you brother, hope we’re good. Just didn’t want to feed the troll spewing nonsense.

Wow I didn’t expect the financial advice. I thought I would ask people who love Omega for a bit of feed back on my idea. Seems a few people have done the same / similar already. That’s great hope the gift of the Omegas goes down as well as I hope mine does. As for the financial advice. What can I say ? Money is to be enjoyed in my humble opinion. Lots of cash in the bank / shares / stocks / bonds or whatever will pale it insignificance when my grandson’s eyes light up when he receives his Speedmaster. Thanks again for all your thoughts people. Peter.

Hence my golden suggestion above 😀 Good luck with your purchase, I’m sure he’ll love whatever you give him, as you are his gramps. Regardless Speedies are darned cool watches…so I’d say the probability is high it will be a double hit.

Many thanks for your opinion. I’m going to post some photos of my grandson and the watch together. My son collects the watch tomorrow so probably Saturday when I post the photos. Again many thanks Peter.

I think that hints at the next interesting question: Do you "show & tell" the watch as he grows up, or surprise him when you give it to him?

hope this gets a few likes? And don’t wish to make time fly by. But I can’t wait until he is old enough for him to wear his gift properly

Peter… so much treasure here! Very well done, sir!

Had to share this (please forgive the hijack!) Here’s Jason, my youngest, in 2017, with his birth year watch, the very day I started wearing it.

Gotta get the bug going when they're young!

Got a battery and a band for a watch I got about 31 years ago when I was 7. My 2 year old loves it.

It’s good to know my idea is not original. And the thought of a good watch as a future gift is a great one !

Peter.

Very nice indeed! Glad you went ahead with it and didn't get sidetracked by all that stupid financial bollox side rant

I'm a big believer in recognizing special moments and in my profile pic you'll see a baby trying to grab a watch box..... that's my daughter trying to grab the Speedie Reduced I bought for her the day she arrived on this earth. I got the smaller watch as she'll have smaller wrists and whilst I'll wear it, it only once a year on her birthday as it's too small for me. I kind of wished I'd gotten something I'd wear more often (selfish, I know!) but then Mum surprised me with a new 44mn Racing Speedmaster (which totally compliments the baby's watch).

Wear the Moon watch, enjoy it, takes lots of pictures.... at the end of the day, when he's wearing it long after you've gone, he'll know and have a constant reminder that you did something extra special for him when he was so young and it will make that watch absolutely priceless to him!!

But yes, service it once or twice along the way! Lol.

Cracking outcome

congrats

Ps it was also my grandad that got me into watches in the 80s.

Whilst he didn’t own a speedmaster he did own other omegas, other brands and was a clock maker. That influence and passion will never leave me.
