So, with the new release of the Return of Ultraman LE, what are now your thoughts concerning the Apollo 11 50th LE? I believe, at least, the dial will have an applied metal logo, step dial and aged SuperLuminova. I think it will have the "flat foot" crown and maybe short pushers to match those of the 105.012. Maybe a DON with another color as shown on the ST2.
Sounds about right, I think a few of us would like it to be like a NOS 105.012. I think it will have a feature that will differentiate it from anything else, maybe a sub dial a la Apollo 13 Ltd édition.
Two months ago I wrote; DON bezel would be possible, especially if it came with another text style font to distinguish it from the 1960s versions ... Let's hope so!
Yeah, I believe it will be a 105.012 with maybe the Apollo XI LEM on the caseback or on one of the subdials. I would love it Another question that starts to bother me... How many watches do you think will be produced ?... I just CAN'T miss this one...
Lets guesstimate... a lot ... why not even produce all regular 2019 Speedmaster chronographs with some commemorative markings
Barely 6 months to Baselworld 2019... as planning & preparation is 50% of the work I guess everything has been decided & production started On a side note: http://www.collectspace.com/news/news-072018a-apollo11-documentary-neon-cnnfilms.html
Why not all Seamasters as well? If you can use Speedmaster for Olympics special edition, you can use Seamaster for commemorative moon landing as well...
My personal interpretation of a possible Apollo XI 50th anniversary LE: a re-edition of the BA 145.022 that I won't be able to afford . Original pic of Tokyo Olympic LE from @bigsom (https://omegaforums.net/threads/tokyo-2020-olympics-speedmasters.79526/page-5#post-1015968)
Most of us are really hoping that Omega design team will be as bold & ambitious as they did for the SpeedyTuesday2 and re-introduce the detailed classic elements (applied logo, DON bezel,...) which transform the complete look of a Speedmaster and bring back the late 1960s - early 1970s golden age of Apollo
Given that Swatch Group announced that they will not participate to the next Baselworld, I would now rather bet for a launch in June-early July, anyway closer to the 20th of July.
I just saw on instagram that Swatch Group is planning to have an own annual weeklong event in Zurich now that they've announced the BWexit. Let's see when this will happen. Major releases of the year will for sure be introduced during that week...
I imagine Omega will offer limited editions similar to the "period correct" Speedmasters used in First Man. A 105.012 Perhaps a 105.003 also. Looking at these watches I think it's unlikely they will put aged luminova on the indexes because they wouldn't have aged at the time they were used for the training and the missions. (Still better that the FOIS though)
It hasn’t been announced yet so it can’t be pre ordered. I think they will make a lot of them so I wouldn’t worry about missing out.
I have talked a couplr OBs and dealers in Austria and Hungary. Even without any news there are already a "waiting" list. As they said people are showing a lot of interest and it will be hard to get a LE of the 50th anniversary model.
