Hey folks,

iam still on my search for my pre moon Speedy and today I stumbled over this offer here.

Its a pre moon 145.022-68, so called transitional if iam properly informed. The serial is in the 26xxx range. The price tag is around 6800$. Are there any red flags that ive overlooked? As far as I’ve checked it by MWO and the Speedmaster101-site everything seems fine.
Iam aware of the quite bad condition of the DON but iam kind of attracted to it.

I really appreciate any help/comment.

Looks like a Jessy Webster listing, watch looks to be all there. It's a pretty early transitional with 26.5m serial, dial and hands are appropriate. Not a terrible price, but once you account for a nicer DoN and a 1039, it gets a bit rich.

In short: poor DON, reasonable case, rather lovely dial. Crown is a modern service.

Personally, I find it quite an attractive specimen. That said, I have a weak spot for these 145.022-68s.

Good luck on your decision!

I like it. The dial is very nice. A period bracelet is expensive to add, but that wouldn’t put me off this one. Perhaps you can get a little off that price to go towards it.

Best of luck

The best part is the dial and those hands matching.🥰 The case looks good too. If you really like it I think you should get it, the price is not outrageous.

I agree, looks nice and the price doesn’t feel unreasonable. The crown can always be replaced for about $500 if you’re so inclined. The bezel wouldn’t bother me too much, personally - adds a bit of character. As a recent Transitional buyer, I say go for it if it speaks to you.

Is that a mark on the dial between 5 and 6 on the bottom subdial? Buy it and stick it on an Uncle Seiko/Forstner bracelet

Nope. Not a mark. Compare its position in the first two pictures and you’ll see it’s on the crystal. 😉

The US or Fostner bracelet is a great idea, imho.

Many thanks to you guys 👍
Yeah I would put it on the flat link Forstner I already have here.

Ok, decision made but unfortunately, I found out yesterday that the import duties from non-European countries to Germany are extremely high (19% of the purchase price). I would never have expected that, it would be my first deal within this constellation. I'll have to think about that 🙁

Only 19%, in the Netherlands its 21% VAT plus duties so I always take into account 25% on top of sales price.

That addition isn’t necessary for Germany, as actual duty is very low (a fixed 0,80€/watch), it’s just the 19% VAT. Very low for EU-standards, still a significant sum, of course, when buying from elsewhere in the world.

additional 0,80 in NL to but shipping and insurance are taxed as well so just to be on the safe side I'm using 25% (including handling fee from the courier). An Uncle Seiko bracelet is manageable but a +4K watch is makes it most of the times too expensive shopping outside of EU yes.

The bezel makes me doubt, otherwise an interesting Speedmaster.

Looks good to me. For the bezel, I guess you'll see if you like it on your wrist.
What about the case back engraving?
