The case is pretty soft and the bezel is a bit soft as well. On a podcast, Eric Wind had said a soft bezel will make or break a 1016. The case can probably be remediated, but it will be expensive. Aldo, have them pull the caseback gasket to check for pitting. You will also need to examine the dial quite closely because it looks like it’s not perfect. In all, it will be an expensive watch bargain or not. May be an OK deal if you can trade some stuff you are not wearing for it.

Thanks @Mark020 @vibe

You're doing exactly what's needed in a "should I buy?" thread, but maybe a bit harsh?
Well, let me put it in context: I'm working with a limited budget. I've looked (for a long time) at all 1016's below 14k on C24 and German/French/Austrian/Dutch/Belgian second hand sites. There are some with slightly better cases, but then they have other issues (non-matching hands etc).

This one, I'd hope to get below 10k (albeit without bracelet... but I have a spare 78360 that is laying around in my drawer).
Would that change your opinion on the "deal"?

I am not in the 1016-sphere, BUT: dial (+lume) and hands for me are +75% of the value - my personal value - of a collectors-watch with (again José) "overall matching patina/condition".
Many steel- watches , "Explorer!" , were used and polished. I like this Ex!

There are some scratches on the crystal, which Polywatch will solve. I think the dial is good. I've seen a video of the watch (can I somehow upload that??) where is was able to better distinguish dial from crystal scratches.

IMHO the case will need a lot of work and is polished to within an inch of its life

certainly taking of another INCH of material from the case won't leave much left of it, hahaha ;-)
