::psy:: Italians, nothing against them i love my neighbors... But the watch "collector/dealer" there is a shark tank with added zing of Catch me if you can... Nothing an avid instagram pusher/hipster won't gobble up in a moments notice.

Just answered my own question. Extract for original batch of 400 looks like this (picture by Iowen)

So, do we believe this new 2020 extract confirms Omega have taken a stance on

"If you would like a separate letter stating that De Marchi were authorised to modifywatches for the Italian market we are happy to do so".

(beetleguess)

This only confirms what I think of Omega's extract of archives procedure...

And the letter is from the museum, not the chairman, as my recent ones are.

It has been confirmed by the Omega Archives that a series of 'Apollo-Soyuz' models were assembled by De Marchi for the Italian market with 'wrong' movements.

this batch of "Soyuz" was equipped with a stock caliber 861 serial number 32mil. from 1972.

Big mistake .. Well, the mystery's solved.

This raises more questions than it answers.

Where is this information from?

Where or how did Dimachi get a series of 1972 watches in 1976?
How does Omega know what watches Demarchi modified?
Is this a sequential batch of movements or random allocation?

I am getting close to that 3 post limit🤨

It looks like the Heritage team are onto something... about time !
Moonwatch Only page 382 still lists the Apollo-Soyuz as made in 1976 at 400 to 500 watches for the Italian market.
Then again, on page 380 the book states cosmonaut Alexei Leonov wore a Flightmaster on his previous flights...
Spoiler alert, Leonov made only 1 flight before ASTP (July 1975), on Voskhod 2 in March 1965... no Flightmaster available in early 1965 😗
...
FYI The ASTP logo was designed by Jean Pinataro and Galina Balashova... first shown to the public on February 20, 1974
But then again, for die-hard (spaceflight) Speedmaster fans, there're at least half-a-dozen open questions:

The community has been waiting for years to get a full overview of the Omega Speedmaster numbers issued to NASA astronauts...
November 2019 passed without extra details on the Gold Apollo XI tribute Speedmaster chronographs, awarded by Omega on November 25, 1969, to 23 NASA astronauts during a Gala dinner in the Warwick Hotel - Houston Texas.
Omega also mentioned a further 8 watches were awarded to Apollo 12 to 17 astronauts in 1972 and 1973... but I have photos on which, I believe, the Apollo 14 astronauts are wearing their Gold Apollo XI tribute Speedmaster in spring of 1971... 👎
