Not likely going to the auction itself. But I'll be in town Monday through Wednesday if anyone's up for a GTG. Tuesday will be my only option for viewing but Monday evening would work for drinks or meal.
I would love to see how the watches are displayed, with box and archives or just watches on their own. Cheers, Michael
I like to know the difference in quality of the gold speedmasters, in the catalogue are no pictures of the bracelets, I have seen many with a "well used"bracelet!
13: Looks nicer. Bracelet pieces still look polished. Some flex. 49: bracelet sides look warn and matte. More flex to it. Gold color looks the same on both.
On 49 I could see a scratch on the back plate, small. Tried to picture it. I counted 21 links. The other had 23 links.
The mochas. Both dials looked great. The one with the bracelet is more of a traditional brown but the other is only a little darker.
The display area: small and intimate set aside from the other galleries and just after the Apollo exhibit.
Nate, who is managing the auction, was there. He was nice to talk to. I asked him of the watches, which did he think were special. He liked items 3 and 27. 3 is very sweet with the faded dial. A very warm look. Out of my price range. 27 is also very nice, but I didn't take any pics of it. 28 is a nice piece, better than 29 for sure. See below.
The last of the pictures. Sorry, I couldn't be more systematic, but it was a Monday workday. The space exploration auction had a great huge exhibit.
My bad, I did take some more pictures of item 25, the tropical dial. This shows the brown more vividly.
