I like #3 also, but it too has issues to resolve - at some stage the rotor has rubbed/ is rubbing against the case back

Just curious, how could you tell that? Is it from the "scratches" on the caseback between 12 to 4pm?

Yes indeed and the corresponding mark on the rotor - you have to look hard, but on the rotor, it seems to start around the “ga”of Omega, and stops around the “Co”

Thanks for all the valuable input so far. Much appreciated. So many things to watch out for when buying a legit vintage watch, its amazing.
Even though Nr. 3 is not perfect I might give it a shot. Not sure yet, though... 😉
Below you find some pictures of another watch that came up when browsing the internet today:

It is serviced and comes fully serviced with 1 year guarantee and 30-day returns. Little bit polished but otherwise really nice condition imho. With some negotiating I might get it for something in the range of 850 Euros.Overpriced or reasonable?

Looks pretty good to me. Searching the Omega Vintage database i go this

Lug definition looks sharp, and i cant see anything wrong with the movement ( but i am no expert here)

I used to have one of those SM30s...they're very nice watches. As you say it is polished, and mainly that's been done due to that caseback - it's been gouged out before with tool marks and dents, which suggests some previous attempts opening it unprofessionally and the odd drop onto an abrasive surface.

For that condition I'd say it's overpriced. @Henneth have you had a look in the Private Sales Forums yet? All of these will be priced fairly and are solely held by fellow members on the forum :>
