Very much depends on the price. Some of the hash marks are chipped, showing the dial has previously been removed from the case..for service? To change out hands? Who knows.

The “never been serviced” verbiage are buzzwords often used by a seller to make a watch more “virgin”. This watch (asmentioned) has clearly had some work done to it over the decades...most watches have.

The dial alone (if original and untouched”) is worth a small fortune. The case is nice enough, others mentioned the service insert can be replaced for about $2,000usd. Crown is correct twin lock. Pics of bracelet would be useful, and what does dive extension say?

What is he asking for it?

What surprises me is that with the seller being your friend, and you seeing the watch in person, spending all of this time with it/him, and getting all of this info etc. and you still didn't get an asking price? 😵‍💫
That'll be the first thing I'd ask...

Upon closer examination, I notice the hash marks under Swiss are completely gone...that’s odd. Also, I assume that “crease” on dial face directly offsetting 8 is just a shadow from a crystal scratch?

I don't believe I ever mentioned an asking price in this thread. He gave me somewhat of a price based on some internet searches, which are the market prices for original ones. After my findings, thanks to the help on here, he is not going to get near that kind of offer from me.

Good catch. I don't know if it is the angle or not. I will have to check it out on my next visit. Yes that shadow is a scratch on the crystal. I believe
it is just on the right of the 9 o'clock marker.

It's the world we live in. Not that I will ever know, but I would love to know what he offered the woman he bought it from. Who knows, she might have been happy with a couple thousand. I would hope my friend gave her a fair price, but he didn't know exactly what he had other than a Rolex Sub, till he did a little research after he bought it, as far as I know.
