But, but, but... I like it.

This is why I never make a major purchase without sleeping on it. Fortunately, with my WADD (watch attention deficit disorder) and the length of time before they are available, my wallet is not in any immediate danger.

Still, that case back and the 3861...
if you like it, then that's all that matters frankly 😀 and you are right, the case back is pretty cool

initial thought was not impressed (too cartoonish). but it has grown on me. so remains in. the case back is the deal for me. whether the OB can secure for me is another proposition .

Meh.

You should get the Snoopy award for understated elegance ("Houston, we have a problem.")

i love this idea that all a watch company has to do to "be Rolex" is raise prices

it hasn't worked for a single other watch brand I can think and it ain't gonna work for Omega / Swatch
You’ve not followed Richard Millie then!

@Duckie Only $14,700 on website, higher price was last night’s conversion

Thanks.
That was more or less the number I had in mind, not the higher one.
On the train into town as I tap to have that conversation with the boutique😉
I think I will know more in about 20 minutes.

If this was truly meant as a tribute to the tremendous efforts to bring Apollo 13 back safely, the Command Module should have half its side blown off, be trailing a cloud of oxygen and still have the LEM attached. Or so the Tom Hanks film suggests. Maybe that didn’t look so heroic when rendered in automata form.

All luxury products aspire to be veblen goods. It's about perception, not objective "value" to the consumer. If the market leader increases prices and you don't then uninformed people (which there are a lot) will tend to perceive your good as being inferior. I don't think Omega think they can beat Rolex just by increasing their prices but they want the perception that their goods are somewhat equitable. So I don't think it's a losing strategy at all but hardly a winning one either.

I buy all my watches because I like them with zero regard to resale value. They're not investments, they're simply things that bring me joy.

Why some people feel to need to devolve every discussion into Omega vs Rolex is beyond me.

Do you have to like either Rolex or Omega or can you like both, accepting that both Companies have great watches that are a joy to wear on your wrist?

most importantly, the cost adding feature, the upgraded movement calibre 3861
makes me think of one thing. how much additional costs will add this new movement to the production process; as well as the METAS testing and as a result added value to the user. is this worth a price spike of 1500-2500 with a new ceramic bezel? btw the power reserve of this movement is 50 hours. what really surprised me was the new power reserve of the new rolex sub movement which is 70 hours. i know different beast but omega is trying to get in an new kind of territory

the watchers are the stupid ones IMHO.🤦

Some are voyeurs for the stupidity of others.

While not the case in this instance, I admit that there are times I follow an auction to see whether a stupid seller can find a stupider buyer.

I am so done with these Speedmaster LEs. The best has come and gone.

Ah ok, seems curiosity would be more the reason for the current wachters for these listings.

Technically it's not a LE, but the RRP is way too high anyway, so I agree the best has come and gone. This makes me feel lucky to have gotten the A11 50SS for less.

I think omega speedmaster editions are getting better, more elaborate each year, be hard upping this one next time.

I hope omega continues to take risk, makes the hobby fun 😀

I do like this as I’m partial to the colour blue. The price, however, is just too much - what’s the comparison price with the original Snoopy?

PS I can’t wait to see the ‘My Snoopy spacecraft has stopped moving’ threads 😉

Not in my mind but doesn’t mean they won’t try and charge it.

Also Tag’s Calibre 2 has an 80 hour reserve for what it is worth.
