Thanks friends to help me understand the 'domed' and 'pie pan'.
@Peemacgee:
But I should not bother this 'domed dial' thread with my questions on 'pie pans', so I deleted it. Sorry!

Thanks friends to help me understand the 'domed' and 'pie pan'.
I did not find specific thread to unshade my concerns and Desmond doesnt help either.
So I try to show exemples.
Here are two very clear white dials, domed and pie pan:

But here two gold dials: domed or pie pan?
Even looking by a lens, I cannot say, wether the 12 facettes are really flat or domed.
But the minute indicator ring has really 12 straight parts. Maybe thats the clear difference in your classification??

Are these dials domed or pie pan?

asking about the veracity of the dome dials above was entirely reasonable but as this is a 'show your domed dialled Constellations' not a discuss your dome dials and pie pan dialled Constellations, perhaps you could start a new topic thread which won't clutter this one.

There is a specific thread discussing the 'painted pie pan effect' most often seen on 168.004s where a member separated a dial and showed light faceting i.e a pie pan, whereas others were almost certainly only a paint effect.
